MLB GPP Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel 9/5

Starting Pitchers
Gerrit Cole- At $10,300 on DraftKings and $10,600 on FanDuel, Cole is priced up for a matchup against Baltimore. The Orioles have regressed down to their talent level posting a wRC+ of 105 in 2020. Cole has the potential to strike out 15 batters in an outing and the matchup against Baltimore is favorable. I’m expecting Cole to garner some ownership but, I’ll differentiate in other spots in my lineups.
Max Fried- At $9,700 on DraftKings and $8,900 on FanDuel, Fried is priced up for a matchup against Washington. Fried has been rock solid in 2020 posting a K/9 of 8.60 and a FIP of 2.29. Fried hasn’t put up the monster point totals because he’s struggled to put hitters away with two strikes. I anticipate Fried to be low owned due to the unfavorable matchup against Washington. Fried could have a 10 strikeout ceiling if he has his putaway stuff.
Justus Sheffield- At $7,600 on DraftKings and $8,100 on FanDuel, Sheffield is at a favorable price point against Texas. This is more of a DraftKings play for me. Sheffield has been solid in 2020 posting a K/9 of 8.60 and a FIP of 2.94. Texas has struggled all season on offense posting a wRC+ of 64 and a K% of 23.5%. I’ll have Sheffield at SP2 on DraftKings.

Chicago White Sox- The White Sox have a matchup against Kris Bubic with an implied run total of 5.28. Bubic has struggled in 2020 posting a FIP of 4.56 and a BB/9 of 3.86. Chicago has been elite on offense posting a wRC+ of 120 and an ISO of .207 in 2020. I expect multiple long balls out of the White Sox lineup on today’s slate. Focus on Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu, Eloy Jimenez, and Luis Robert.
New York Yankees- The Yankees have a matchup against Keegan Akin with an implied run total of 5.44. Akin has only 7.2 MLB innings under his belt and was an average pitcher at AAA in 2019. This is a matchup that I am comfortable attacking with volume in tournaments. The Yankees bats are depleted but, still have a lot of power. Focus on Luke Voit, D.J. LeMahieu, Clint Frazier, and Gary Sanchez.
San Francisco Giants- The Giants have a matchup against Madison Bumgarner with an implied run total of 4.41. Bumgarner has been a shell of himself in recent outings giving up 13 earned runs over his last 6.1 innings pitched. The Giants offense has been elite in 2020 posting a wRC+ of 113. I expect the Giants to come in low owned on today’s slate. Focus on Mike Yastrzemski, Austin Slater, Wilmer Flores, and Evan Longoria.
