MLB Top Stacks Main (Quick Overview)

No surprise here, the Giants rank #1 again with their matchup in vs the Rockies in Coors Field.

You don’t need me to tell you to play hitters in Coors Field so I’ll be avoiding them on purpose throughout this article.

Pirates vs RHP Justin Dunn

The Pirates have been showing up rather frequently the past few days as a solid stack option and today is no different. The matchup vs Justin Dunn is a good one we should be able to take advantage of today

This season, Dunn has not pitched much, only facing 20 left handers and 20 right handers. In that small sample he’s been pretty awful with a 7.11 xfip 15% k rate and 10% walk rate. If we look at his numbers dating back to the start of the 2021 season, they really aren’t much better but we have a larger sample size to work from so that’s what I’ll be referencing below

Dating back to the start of the 2021 season, Dunn has a 6.10 xfip and gives up big power numbers to hitters from both sides of the plate. Against lefties he has allowed a 192 iso, 41% fly ball rate and 48% hard contact rate, and against righties he has given up a 185 iso 55% fly ball rate and a 39% hard contact rate. In theory, targeting a pitcher that gives up a ton of fly balls and hard contact should lead lots of fantasy points for us

Bryan Reynolds is the top option on the Pirates. He’s put together a solid 373 woba 234 iso and 40% hard contact rate against right handed pitchers since the start of the 2021 season

There are a few other Pirates I’m interested in also, despite them not having the gaudy numbers of Bryan Reynolds. Rodolfo Castro, Oneil Cruz and Tucupita Marcano can all be targeted in this matchup today vs Dunn

Dodgers vs LHP Braxton Garrett

We haven’t seen an explosion from the Dodgers since way back on August 13th when they put up 13 runs Royals. I know, that was only a week ago, but, with this lineup it feels like a month ago.

Tonight I feel like they’re ready to break out against soft tossing lefty Braxton Garrett. The left hander enters tonight’s matchup, allowing a 347 woba 168 iso and 40% hard contact to right handed hitters. This Dodgers lineup is full of all star caliber right handers we can chose from tonight.

Mookie Betts will leadoff tonight and he’s always been one of the best hitters in the game vs left handed pitching. This season has been no different, entering tonight’s game he has a 370 woba 245 iso and 48% hard contact rate against left handed pitching

Trea Turner is just as good as Mookie vs lefties, and he’s smashed them again so far this season. So far this year Turner has a 417 woba 281 iso and 47% hard contact rate. That’s one hell of a One Two punch at the top of the lineup

After Betts and Turner, Braxton Garrett will have to deal with Freddie Freeman (350/192) Will Smith (340/186) Justin Turner (323/175) Chris Taylor (358/225). Good luck tonight Mr Garrett, you’re going to need it

Are you ready to dominate?

Reds vs RHP Tyler Beede

Pirates right hander Tyler Beede enters today’s matchup vs the Reds with a 5.24 xfip and just a 13% strikeout rate. Over his last 30 days Beede, has been very bad against left handed hitters, allowing a 358 woba and 179 iso

Reds leadoff hitter Jake Fraley is a left handed hitter and he’s been crushing right handed pitchers over the last 30 days to the tune of a 478 woba 333 iso and 41% hard contact rate

Jonathan India wont bat left handed, but, nonetheless, he’s been smashing right handed pitching as well. Over the last 30 days India has a 396 woba 333 iso and 40% hard contact vs right handed pitching

You can target Mike Moustakas and Nick Senzel in this matchup as well, however, they have not been as hot as Fraley and India recently.

Twins vs RHP Glenn Otto

Rangers right hander Glenn Otto has been getting knocked around regularly this year against right handed hitters. This season he has allowed a 361 woba 168 iso and a 39% hard contact rate while only striking out 18% of right handed hitters.

Byron Buxton has hit right handed pitchers well over the last two seasons. Dating back to the start of the 2021 season he has a 360 woba 316 iso and 43% hard contact rate vs righties.

Carlos Correa has been similarly good vs righties, with a 338 woba 187 iso and 46% hard contact rate

Other Twins I like in this matchup, Luis Arraez, Jorge Polanco and Max Kepler

Batter Rankings Today

These rankings are not site-specific and are intended to give you a solid pool of players to build your lineups from. I’ll be using the standard positions, Catcher through Outfield in these rankings so be aware of that if you’re constructing teams on Draftkings where some players can play multiple positions.

Something I like to do with this, is to give these players a THUMBS UP or 2, or 3, in Fantasy Cruncher so I can get more exposure to them throughout my lineups
