Happy Friday everyone! I know you’re all consumed with Week 1 of the NFL Season, but, we’ve got a nice slate to attack today in MLB before we officially reach the weekend. The Diamondbacks rank as our #1 stack tonight as of the time of this article, and, it’s not really a surprise as they visit Coors Field tonight. Below I will try to highlight some other spots we can attack on this big slate to get off the inevitable Coors Field chalk.
Royals vs Tigers LHP Joey Wentz
Tigers left hander Joey Wentz has not pitched much this year, however, based on what we’ve seen I believe we can attack him today. Entering today’s game he has a 4.92 xfip and only a 16.7% strikeout rate
The top 3 hitters in the Royals lineup have smashed left handed pitching all season.
These will be my top three targets today. I’ll mix in Hunter Dozier, Michael A. Taylor and Nick Pratto as well. We don’t normally target the Royals with our stacks, so, they’ll surely be super low owned today on a Coors Field slate nonetheless
Phillies vs Nationals LHP Patrick Corbin
Patrick Corbin enters tonight’s matchup with a 4.79 xfip and just a 18.7% strikeout rate. Against right handed hitters he’s been truly this season allowing a 377 woba 206 iso and 50% hard contact rate while only managing an 18.9% strikeout rate
If I’m attacking him, I’m doing it with Phillies right handed bats today
Rhys Hoskins 615 xwoba 281 iso 49% hard contact Alec Bohm 521 xwoba 199 iso 52% hard contact J.T. Realmuto 387 xwoba 194 iso 47% hard contact Jean Segura 399 xwoba 186 iso 40% hard contact
Those 4 right handers are in a fantastic spot here vs Corbin, who struggles big time vs right handed hitters. You might as well mix in Bryce Harper, as he’s crushed left handers as well this season with a 488 xwoba and a 200 iso
Are you ready to dominate?
The MLB Study Hub is my #1 source for research every single day and is one of the VIP Only tools our members have access to daily.
Within the Study Hub you will see today’s MLB Projections for every player along with advanced MLB Statistics like wOBA and ISO vs the Handedness of today’s starting pitcher.
Ownership Projections are included, along with a letter grade ranking system for every player on the slate.
James Kaprielian enters the game today with a 6.16 xfip and just a 15.9% strikeout rate. He’s been bad against hitters from both sides of the plate, but, he’s been outright awful against right handed hitters. This year he has allowed a 358 woba 231 iso 51% fly ball rate and 39% hard contact rate vs righties this year
Jose Abreu 458 xwoba 132 iso 43% hard contact Eloy Jimenez 583 xwoba 201 iso 48% hard contact Andrew Vaughn 385 xwoba 190 iso 36% hard contact
If you’re home run hunting, you can always consider AJ Pollock. We normally target him against left handed pitching where he’s almost automatic to go yard with his 742 xwoba and 376 iso, however, he still maintains a 422 xwoba vs right handed pitching. With a 422 xwoba and a only a 254 woba 068 iso, I’m thinking Pollock is ready for a breakout soon against right handed pitching
Reds vs Brewers RHP Jason Alexander
Brewers right hander Jasn Alexander has struggled this year, and he enters today’s game with a 5.09 xfip and only a 13.3% strikeout rate. Against left handed hitters he’s been getting rocked all season long, allowing a 389 woba 243 iso 38% fly ball rate and 48% hard contact rate while only managing a 14.7% strikeout rate
Jake Fraley is one of my TOP PLAYS on this entire slate and I’m picking him to go deep tonight vs Alexander. This season Fraley has mashed right handed pitching to the tune of 382 woba 274 iso and 40% hard contact rate. Alexander throws his changeup to left handers around 25% of the time and allows a 402 woba and 250 iso, while Fraley vs right handed changeups has a 425 xwoba 355 iso. Good luck sneaking that change past Fraley tonight Mr Alexander.
These rankings are not site-specific and are intended to give you a solid pool of players to build your lineups from. I’ll be using the standard positions, Catcher through Outfield in these rankings so be aware of that if you’re constructing teams on Draftkings where some players can play multiple positions
Something I like to do with this, is to give these players a THUMBS UP or 2, or 3, in Fantasy Cruncher so I can get more exposure to them throughout my lineups

Overview – use this as a guide to help you start your build stacks tonight – these are stack examples using ONLY the guys in my Top5 above – generally, if a team has multiple guys ranked at the Top5 in their position, it’s likely they are in a good spot overall
