MLB Top Stacks Early (Quick Overview)

Happy Labor Day everyone, today we have two 6 game slates to attack. In this early slate we get a Coors Field game between the Brewers and the Rockies so both of those teams will likely be good targets today. Currently however, the Cardinals rank as our #1 stack in their matchup vs Nationals RHP Anibal Sanchez. Keep an eye on official lineups as they get announced later this morning.

Brewers and Rockies in Coors Field

I don’t usually like to write up stacks in Coors Field, as I feel it’s so obvious it really doesn’t help the readers much. Today however, I have to highlight this game because we’ve go two pretty bad pitchers on each side we can attack.

The Rockies will send right handed pitcher Ryan Feltner to the mound today vs the Brewers. Dating back to the start of the 2021 season he has a 5.15 xfip and 19.5% strikeout rate. He has really struggled vs right handed hitters, allowing a 391 woba 269 iso and 46% hard contact rate. Against left handed hitters he has allowed a 207 iso 44% fly ball rate and 46% hard contact rate. We can safely target Brewers hitters from both sides of the plate in this matchup

Brewers vs RHP since 2021 xwoba / iso / hard contact %

Willy Adames – 424 / 223 / 43%
Rowdy Tellez – 419 / 246 / 45%
Hunter Renfroe – 419 / 238 / 42%
Keston Hiura – 509 / 244 / 51%

The Brewers will send right hander Adrian Houser to the mound vs the Rockies today. This season he has a 4.77 xfip and a 17.5% strikeout rate. He has been pretty good against right handed hitters, but, against left handers he has struggled. Against lefties, he has allowed a 373 woba 192 iso and 40% hard contact rate. If we’re going to attack him we should be looking at the Rockis left handed hitters here.

The Rockies do not have a great lineup, but, in Coors Field vs a below average pitcher should bode well for them today. My top two targets are going to be Ryan McMahon and Charlie Blackmon in this lineup.

Since 2021 McMahon has a 429 xwoba 196 iso and 50% hard contact rate against right handed pitching. While Blackmon has a 376 xwoba 174 iso and 43% hard contact rate in the same time frame.

When you combine the best hitters park on the planet with two bad pitchers things could get crazy this afternoon in Coors

Blue Jays vs Orioles RHP Jordan Lyles

Jordan Lyles enters today’s game with a 5.25 xfip and an 18.4% strikeout rate. Against left handed hitters he has allowed a 361 woba 216 iso 40% fly ball rate and 40% hard contact rate. He’s been a little better against right handers, allowing a 317 woba 131 iso but still allows a high fly ball rate at 40% and hard contact rate at 40%

Cavan Biggio is the only left handed hitter projected to be in the lineup for the Blue Jays. This year he has a 396 xwoba 169 iso and 39% hard contact rate vs right handed pitching

More Blue Jays bats to target – woba / iso / hard contact % vs RHP

George Springer – 346 / 208 / 37%
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. – 365 / 224 / 42%
Teoscar Hernandez – 321 / 182 / 48%
Alejandro Kirk – 365 / 156 / 42%
Matt Chapman – 325 / 221 / 49%

We’ve targeted the Blue Jays quite a bit this year and this matchup is as good as any. Let’s hope they can come through for us on this 6 game early slate 📈

Red Sox vs Rays RHP Luis Patino

Luis Pation has a 5.51 xfip and 20% strikeout rate dating back to the 2021 season. He hasn’t pitched much this season, only facing 34 left handed and 29 right handed hitters. Since 2021 he has allowed a 150 iso 47% fly ball rate and only a 13.8% strikeout rate to left handed hitters. Against right handers he allows more power, allowing a 196 iso and a 45% fly ball rate, but he has a much better strikeout rate of 26.8%.

Rafael Devers is my top target here. Since 2021 he has crushed right handed pitching with a 518 xwoba 307 iso and 45% hard contact rate. Against Patino who only strikes out 13.8% of left handed hitters, I expect Devers to put the bat on the ball in this matchup, and when he does, it’s going to be hit hard and hopefully far 🚀

Other Red Sox bats I want in this matchup

Xander Bogaerts – 402 xwoba / 183 iso / 39% hc%
JD Martinez – 499 xwoba / 196 iso / 45% hc%
Trevor Story – 387 xwoba / 188 iso / 44% hc%

Rankings Today

These rankings are not site-specific and are intended to give you a solid pool of players to build your lineups from. I’ll be using the standard positions, Catcher through Outfield in these rankings so be aware of that if you’re constructing teams on Draftkings where some players can play multiple positions

Something I like to do with this, is to give these players a THUMBS UP or 2, or 3, in Fantasy Cruncher so I can get more exposure to them throughout my lineups
