Fresh off being shutout last night by Kyle Bradish (go figure) the Astros rank as our #1 stack today on this 11 game Saturday slate. Bradish pitching 8 innings last night, gave up only 2 hits and 2 walks and struck out 6 of these Astros. Let’s hope they can get their heads out of their asses tonight as they have a great matchup (on paper) vs against right hander Dean Kremer
Diamondbacks vs White Sox RHP Davis Martin
White Sox right hander Davis Martin enters today’s game with a 5.15 xfip and just a 17.4% strikeout rate. Against right handed hitters he has struggled this year, allowing a 339 woba 155 iso and 44% hard contact rate.
Christian Walker has done well recently against right handed pitching. Over the last 30 days, Walker has a 417 woba 333 iso and 50% hard contact rate vs righties
Emmanuel Riveras has been hot as well, over the last 30 days he has a 406 woba 347 iso and 43% hard contact rate against right handed pitching.
Since the start of the 2021 season Ketel Marte has a 327 woba 163 iso and 39% hard contact rating vs righties and Dalton Varsho has a 330 woba 219 iso and 43% hard contact vs righties.
The D’Backs are not a team we target often, but, they’ve got a solid matchup here today vs Martin in Chicago
Astros vs Orioles RHP Dean Kremer
As I mentioned above, the Astros got shut down last night vs Kyle Bradish, as they managed just 2 hits in 8 innings against him. Tonight they get a great matchup (on paper) against right hander Dean Kremer. If we go back to the start of the 2021 season, we see that Kremer as really struggled against right handed hitters. Since 2021 he has allowed a 375 woba 229 iso 42% fly ball rate 47% hard contact and only a 14.8% strikeout rate against right handed hitters
Jose Altuve (351/201/37%) and Alex Bregman (355/195/44%) are the top two Astros righties I’ll be targeting here.
Yordon Alvarez bats left handed, but, his matchup against this right hander is elite today. Since 2021 Alvarez has a 398 woba 298 iso and 51% hard contact rating against right handed pitchers.
Kyle Tucker is another Astros lefty who crushes right handed pitching. Since 2021 he has a 380 woba 242 iso and 43% hard contact rate against righties.
While Davis Kremer is worse against right handed batters, I will be prioritizing the left handed Alvarez and Tucker in my Astros stacks this evening.
Are you ready to dominate?
The MLB Study Hub is my #1 source for research every single day and is one of the VIP Only tools our members have access to daily.
Within the Study Hub you will see today’s MLB Projections for every player along with advanced MLB Statistics like wOBA and ISO vs the Handedness of today’s starting pitcher.
Ownership Projections are included, along with a letter grade ranking system for every player on the slate.
With Juan Soto out of the lineup I don’t think the Padres will get as much attention as this matchup would justify. Royals left hander Daniel Lynch has really struggled against right handed hitters since 2021. He has allowed a 350 woba 165 iso 40% fly ball rate and 48% hard contact rate against righties since 2021.
Brandon Drury is not a household name but has crushed lefties since 2021 with a 428 xwoba 324 iso and 44% hard contact rate. If you can stomach his 27.6% strikeout rate vs lefties since 2021 he should be apart of your Padres stacks tonight
Josh Bell is a switch hitter who will bat right handed vs the lefty today. Since 2021 he has a 360 woba 221 iso and 42% hard contact rate against lefties
Manny Machado since the start of the 2021 season has a 332 woba 189 iso and 43% hard contact rate against left handed pitching
Brewers vs Cubs LHP Drew Smyly
Cubs lefty Drew Smyly has had some really good and really bad games this year. I’m banking on a bad one here vs the Brewers who have a few guys who mash left handed pitching. Since the 2021 season Drew Smyly has allowed a 334 woba 195 iso 39% fly ball rate and 41% hard contact rate to right handed hitters. Against left handed hitters, he has been equally bad, allowing a 332 woba 217 iso 38% fly ball rate and 43% hard contact rate.
Hunter Renfroe is great vs left handed pitchers and his numbers since 2021 prove that out. Since 2021 he has a 452 xwoba 239 iso and 43% hard contact rate against lefties.
Andrew McCutchen isn’t the player he once was, but, he’s still great against left handed pitching. Since 2021 Cutch has a 422 xwoba 294 iso and 51% hard contact rate vs lefties
Willy Adames can be added to your Brewers stack, as he’s been solid since 2021 vs lefties. Since 2021 he has a 443 xwoba 205 iso and 46% hard contact rate
If you need a GPP flyer, take a look at Rowdy Tellez. He’s a left handed hitter so most people will go another direction in the lefty vs lefty matchup. Smyly allows a 217 vs lefties however, and Tellez has a 44% hard contact vs left handed pitchers since 2021 so he could take Smyly deep here.
Rankings Today
These rankings are not site-specific and are intended to give you a solid pool of players to build your lineups from. I’ll be using the standard positions, Catcher through Outfield in these rankings so be aware of that if you’re constructing teams on Draftkings where some players can play multiple positions.
Something I like to do with this, is to give these players a THUMBS UP or 2, or 3, in Fantasy Cruncher so I can get more exposure to them throughout my lineups
Overview – use this as a guide to help you start your build stacks tonight – these are stack examples using ONLY the guys in my Top5 above – generally, if a team has multiple guys ranked at the Top5 in their position, it’s likely they are in a good spot overall
