MLB Top Stacks (Quick Overview)

We have an 8 game Sunday slate today. Above you can see the MLB Stacks table that shows an overview of the teams on today’s slate.

The early run of the MLB Study Hub shows the Blue Jays as the #1 ranked stack vs the Yankees and Nestor Cortes. One team that pops early to me is the Astros, who we currently have ranked as the 4th best stack but 13th highest owned.

When official lineups get announced later this morning these will most likely update, but, nonetheless it gives us something to consider as we start our research this morning

Phillies vs RHP Jose Butto

The Mets will give thier top pitching prospect his 1st MLB start today vs the Phillies. He’s been very good at the minor league level, across Double A and Triple A he has registered 111 strikeouts in just 98.1 innings. I’m looking to pick on him here in the hopes of him just being a little nervous in his MLB Debut. I could see him doing well, maybe 5 innings with 5 or 6 k’s, but as I said my hope is he’s a little rattled in his 1st start in the bigs

Dating back to the start of the 2021 season Kyle Schwarber has crushed right handed pitching to the tune of a 361 woba 308 iso and 45% hard contact rate. I think he takes the youngster deep today.

Rhys Hoskins, over that same time span, has a 335 woba 239 iso 42% hard contact rate vs right handed pitchers and he is always a threat to go yard

Alec Bohm, J.T. Realmuto and Nick Castellanos will be in consideration as well against this young right hander today

Braves vs RHP Jose Urquidy

Astros right hander Jose Urquidy enters today’s game with a 4.81 xfip and only a 19% strikeout rate. Against right handed hitters he has really struggled this year, allowing a 335 woba 226 iso 44% fly ball rate and 39% hard contact rate

This Braves lineup is full of guys who crush right handed hitting. Pretty much 1 through 8 in the order are in play here today. I’ll highlight some of the numbers since that start of the 2021 season below (wOBA / ISO / Hard Contact%)

Austin Riley – 375/246/44%
Matt Olson – 366/248/43%
Michael Harris – 371/257/37%
Ronald Acuna Jr. – 367/213/43%
Dansby Swanson – 331/177/44%

It’s tough to pick a favorite out of this group, so I’ll make sure I have plenty of exposure to all of them in this matchup

Are you ready to dominate?

The MLB Study Hub is my #1 source for research every single day and is one of the VIP Only tools our members have access to daily.

Within the Study Hub you will see today’s MLB Projections for every player along with advanced MLB Statistics like wOBA and ISO vs the Handedness of today’s starting pitcher.

Ownership Projections are included, along with a letter grade ranking system for every player on the slate.

Twins vs RHP Kohei Arihara

Rangers right hander Kohei Arihar has not pitched much this season, but if we take a look at his numbers since 2021 we can see he is someone we should be able to target on today’s slate.

Against left handed hitters since 2021 he has allowed a 361 woba 253 iso and 39% hard contact rate. Believe it or not, against right handed hitters he’s given up even worse numbers allowing a 422 woba 346 iso and 50% hard contact rate

Byron Buxton is one of the best hitters in the game today and today’s matchup is an great one for him. Since 2021 Buxton has slashed a 360 woba 316 iso and 44% hard contact rate against right handed pitchers

Jorge Polanco has put up similar numbers against right handed pitching since 2021 with a 358 woba 240 iso and 40% hard contact rate

Carlos Correa (338/187/46%) and Max Kepler (321/191/39%) are very solid options here as well.

With 4 solid hitters behind him, don’t forget about Luis Arraez in your Twins stacks. He doesn’t have much power, only a 101 iso vs RHP since 2021, but, he has a very low 7% strikeout rate and a very high 93% contact rate, which means, he puts the bat on the ball and lets the guys behind him drive him home. This top 5 in the Twins order could do serious damage today

Rangers vs RHP Joe Ryan

On the other side of the Twins we have the Rangers who have a pretty solid matchup of their own. Joe Ryan has put up some great games this year, and also some very bad games. He enters today’s game with a 5.31 xfip and he has allowed a 209 iso and 57% fly ball rate to left handed hitters, while also allowing a 192 iso and 48% fly ball rate to righties.

All Star shortstoo Corey Seager is the top option on the Rangers. This season he has registered a 339 woba 195 iso and 49% hard contact rate against right handed pitching.

Nate Lowe, Marcus Semian and Adolis Garcia are good options as well. Overall, I don’t like the Rangers side of this game quite as much as I like the Twins side, but, I still think they’ll put up 6+ runs today

Batter Rankings Today

These rankings are not site-specific and are intended to give you a solid pool of players to build your lineups from. I’ll be using the standard positions, Catcher through Outfield in these rankings so be aware of that if you’re constructing teams on Draftkings where some players can play multiple positions.

Something I like to do with this, is to give these players a THUMBS UP or 2, or 3, in Fantasy Cruncher so I can get more exposure to them throughout my lineups
