MLB Top Stacks Main (Quick Overview)

Today we have an 8 game main slate to attack after a solid 6 game early slate. Currently we have the Phllies ranked as the top ranked stack on this slate, but, there are plenty of other really good options for us tonight so I’m going to highlight some of the less obvious teams below.

Red Sox vs Blue Jays RHP Jose Berrios

At first glance it may not look like a good matchup for the Red Sox here vs RHP Jose Berrios who has been really good in spurts over the last few years. When you dig into the matchup however, you can see clear areas we can take advantage of in this matchup tonight.

This season Jose Berrios has allowed a 366 woba 245 iso 39% fly ball rate and 38% hard contact rate while only striking out 18.9% of the left handed batters he has faced. If we look at this same split, vs left handed hitters, over the last 30 days we see a 379 woba 261 iso and 35% hard contact allowed.

Rafael Devers is the top left handed Red Sox bat we want to target here tonight. This season he has a 402 woba  285 iso and 43% hard contact rate against right handed pitching. He’s in my short list for TOP PLAY of the slate in this matchup tonight

Alex Verdugo and Franchy Cordero are two other left handed Red Sox bats we can target here. I would target Verdugo before Coredero, although neither of them have numbers on par with Devers, the hope is they can get on base and have others knock them in

White Sox vs Orioles RHP Spenser Watkins

Orioles right handed pitcher Spenser Watkins could be the worst pitcher on this slate tonight. He enters tonight’s matchup vs the White Sox with a 5.67 xfip and only a 14.1% strikeout rate. Against right handed hitters he has allowed a 369 woba 247 iso 46% fly ball rate and 43% hard contact rate while only striking out 12.3% of the 326 batters faced since the start of the 2021 season.

Against left handed hitters he’s a little better, but, not much. Since 2021 he has allowed a 335 woba 165 iso and 41% hard contact rate.

Eloy Jimenez is my top option in the White Sox lineup tonight. Since 2021 he has a 350 woba 183 iso and a 49% hard contact rate against right handed pitching. He should see plenty of good pitches to hit with the big man Jose Abrea right behind him in the order.

Jose Abreu is another great target in the White Sox lineup. Since 2021 he has a 347 woba 168 iso and a 46% hard contact against right handed pitchers

Luis Robert, A.J. Pollock and Yoan Moncada are other White Sox bats I have a lot of interest in

Are you ready to dominate?

Cardinals vs Cubs RHP Luke Farrell

Luke Ferrell will get the start today for the Cubies. This is his second stint with the team after appearing in 20 games back in 2018. In 11 starts for the Iowa Cubs this year he has a 5.03 era with 49 strikeouts and 28 walks. In his big league appearances since the start of the 2021 season he has a 4.97 xfip with a 22% strikeout rate and a 13% walk rate.

I’m going to target right handed hitters against Farrell, as he has allowed a 333 woba 216 iso 47% hard contact rate and 13.6% walk rate against righties since 2021

MVP Candidate Paul Goldschmidt should be at the top of your short list of hitters tonight. Since 2021 Goldy has smashed right handed pitchers to the tune of a 435 xwoba 213 iso and 44% hard contact rate. Look for him to go deep vs Farrell tonight

Nolan Arenado is another masher in this Cardinals lineup who has no issues with a righty vs righty matchup. Since 2021 Arenado has a 349 woba 224 iso and 39% hard contact rate against righties

This Cardinals lineup is full of guys we can target in this matchup tonight. All of these guys smash right handed pitching, and, it would make sense to have high exposure to them tonight. Nolan Gorman (332/220/42%), Tyler O’Neill (337/222/45%) Lars Nootbaar (354/217/39%)

Batter Rankings Today

These rankings are not site-specific and are intended to give you a solid pool of players to build your lineups from. I’ll be using the standard positions, Catcher through Outfield in these rankings so be aware of that if you’re constructing teams on Draftkings where some players can play multiple positions.

Something I like to do with this, is to give these players a THUMBS UP or 2, or 3, in Fantasy Cruncher so I can get more exposure to them throughout my lineups
