Hey everyone, hopefully you’re having a wonderful Wednesday and I hope you are sitting pretty in your MLB Early Slate contests. Tonight we have another 6 game slate to attack before we all become consumed with NFL Week 1.
As you can see the Astros are currently ranked as our #1 stack on this 6 game main slate in their matchup vs against Rangers left handed Cole Ragans. As lineups get confirmed, we’ll like see some movement on this sheet so stay tuned.
Reds vs Cubs RHP Javier Assad
Javier Assad hasn’t pitched much this season, but, in the limited time he has pitched he has managed a 5.78 xfip and just a 13% strikeout rate. He allows 40+% hard contact to hitters from both sides of the plate, and really doesn’t miss many bats at all.
Over the last 30 days Terry Friedl has crushed right handed pitching with a 496 woba 346 iso and 48% fly ball rate.
Jake Fraley has been great all year and the matchup today is a good one. Over the last 30 days Fraley has a 408 woba 311 iso and 45% hard contact rate against right handed pitching
The Cardinals offense is one of the best in all of baseball, and they’ve got a dreamy matchup tonight vs right hander Cory Abbott. This season Abbot has a 6.78 xfip and a mediocre 20% strikeout rate. Against left handed hitters he’s been truly awful allowing a 368 woba 294 iso and ridiculous 77% fly ball rate. Against right handed hitters, he gives up a 204 iso and 49% fly ball rate
Lars Nootbaar will bat leadoff again and he’s been great all season. He has a 437 xwoba 243 iso and 43% hard contact rate against right handed pitching this year.
Brendan Donovan, like Nootbaar will bat left handed and he will likely be in the two hole today. Against right handers this season he has a 344 woba 36% hard contact rate and an overall 85.2% contact rate. He most likely will not strike out vs Abbott and if he gets on base the big masher behind him should be able to drive him home
The usual suspects are in play if we’re stacking Cardinals tonight. Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado are in prime spots and both have 380+ woba and 200+ iso vs right handed pitchers this season.
Corey Dickerson and Nolan Gorman are two more left handers you can target if you want to get some bottom of the order Cardinals exposure. Dickerson has a 158 iso and Gorman has a 213 iso vs right handers this year

The Cubies came through for us in a big way yesterday with a nice run game vs these Reds. Today they get another great matchup vs a weak left hander in Mike MInor. This season Minor has a 5.98 xfip and just a 17.4% strikeout rate. He’s been god awful against right handed hitters all year allowing a 395 woba 272 iso 44% fly ball rate 40% hard contact rate and managing just a 16.5% strikeout rate this season
Seiya Suzuki had a big game yesterday and I’m expecting more today vs Minor. Over the last 30 days he has a 433 woba and 58% hard contact rate against right handed pitching
Framil Reyes has had a rough season, but, over his past 30 days he’s starting to heat up. In the past 30 days he has a 409 woba 368 iso and 44% hard contact rate against right handers
Nico Hoerner is another Cub who has been hot recently. Over his last 30 days he has a 454 woba and 200 iso vs righties
Ian Happ can always be considered in a Cubs stack and he’s probably the best hitter on the team. This year against right handed pitchers he has a 362 woba 145 iso and 34% hard contact rate
Padres vs Diamondbacks LHP Tommy Henry
Tommy Henry has had a rough season and enters tonight’s game with a 5.93 xfip and just a 16.5% strikeout rate. Against right handed hitters he’s really struggled allowing a 328 woba 168 iso 38% fly ball rate and 43% hard contact rate
Overall the Padres have cooled off recently, but, here are the guys I’m targeting tonight and their numbers vs left handed pitching this season
Manny Machado – 345 woba 231 iso 47% hard contact Juan Soto – 335 woba 166 iso 39% hard contact Josh Bell – 349 woba 198 iso 36% hard contact Ha-seong Kim – 351 woba 129 iso 43% hard contact
Rankings Today
These rankings are not site-specific and are intended to give you a solid pool of players to build your lineups from. I’ll be using the standard positions, Catcher through Outfield in these rankings so be aware of that if you’re constructing teams on Draftkings where some players can play multiple positions.
Something I like to do with this, is to give these players a THUMBS UP or 2, or 3, in Fantasy Cruncher so I can get more exposure to them throughout my lineups
