NBA DFS Plays for Friday, 10/29

The NBA is in full swing and we have a solid seven-game DFS slate to navigate tonight! In this article I’ll offer up at least one player to pay up for, one rock-solid value, and one salary save at each position category. Take note that some players have different position eligibility between FanDuel and DraftKings. The salary structure is also a bit different between the two sites. When you see a player cheaper on FD than DK, it’s a situation worth investigating.

Six of the seven games tonight have projected point totals of 219+, so there will be plenty of fantasy points to go around. LeBron James and Kristaps Porzingas are questionable players to monitor leading up to tipoff, but the slate hinges on the status of Nikola Jokic.

Guards

Damian Lillard (POR)
FanDuel – $8,400
DraftKings – $9,300

With the showdown between the Blazers and Clippers sporting the highest expected point total of the night, you’ll see several players from the game in this article. Lillard is a screaming value on FanDuel, where for some reason, his salary is lower than teammate CJ McCollum. Lillard leads the Blazers with a 33% usage rate on the season and is always capable of breaking a slate. According to Rise or Fall’s NBA DFS Study Hub, he has a 53% chance to his 5x value tonight.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker (NO)
FanDuel – $6,000
DraftKings – $6,700

Alexander-Walker is getting plenty of minutes as the starting two-guard in New Orleans. Unfortunately, he’s been ice-cold from three-point range over the last two games. The good news is that he’s still firing them, attempting 8.6 threes per game. He’s only hit 25.6% from deep on the young season, and we should see that start climbing closer to his career average of 33.7% sooner than later.

T.J. McConnell (IND)
FanDuel – $5,700
DraftKings – 5,500

McConnell will be a popular play tonight as he steps into the starting point guard role for the injured Malcolm Brogdon. In the three games he started last year, he averaged 19.7 points, 7.3 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.7 steals. An output anything close to that will easily pay off his salary on either site tonight.

Davion Mitchell (SAC)
FanDuel – $3,900
DraftKings – $4,100

Sacramento’s rookie guard is making a name for himself and earning playing time early in his career with his defensive prowess. He’s averaging nearly 27 minutes/game and while he isn’t stuffing the stat sheet, that time on the court is enough for him to put up usable DFS numbers at his discount price. He makes a lot of sense as a salary-saving option tonight.

Forwards

Paul George (LAC)
FanDuel – $10,100
DraftKings – $10,000

The forward position isn’t deep tonight, so it’s worth paying up for top options. Kevin Durant has the highest ceiling at the position, but George isn’t far behind. I like game stacking George and Lillard as the two highest usage players in the highest project scoring game of the night.

Jimmy Butler (MIA)
FanDuel – $9,200
DraftKings – 8,700

Jimmy Buckets has been on fire lately, averaging 25.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists over his last three games. He should be able to keep it rolling tonight in a pace-up game with Charlotte. Don’t be surprised if he ends up with a double-double tonight, and there’s always a chance he adds another triple-double to his resume.

Miles Bridges (CHA)
FanDuel – $8,000
DraftKings – $7,300

Bridges has been balling out, and his salary has barely budged. The former first-round pick is destroying his career averages with 26.2 points and 8.0 rebounds through the first five games of the season. At some point, his salary is going to climb, but for now, take advantage of the value.

Franz Wagner (ORL)
FanDuel – $4,900
DraftKings – $4,900

The Magic rookie was featured in last Friday’s article as well, and while his salary is slowly climbing, he’s still a nice value. He hasn’t shown the ceiling to use in any tournament lineups, but his nearly 33 minutes/game on the court make him appealing for cash games.

Centers

Domantas Sabonis (IND)
FanDuel: $9,300
DraftKings: $9,400

With Brogdon out, his 26% usage is going to be distributed among the rest of the Pacers tonight. While the aforementioned McConnell is the obvious candidate to benefit the most, Sabonis should soak up some of the available usage as well. He could see an uptick in scoring, three-point shooting, and assists while Brogdon is out, giving the Indiana big man triple-double upside.

Richaun Holmes (SAC)
FanDuel – $7,500
DraftKings – $5,800

Holmes’ salary just doesn’t make sense on DraftKings tonight. He’s averaged 35.6 DK points over his last two outings, and his salary still hasn’t cracked $6,000. According to the Study Hub, he has nearly a 63% to hit 5x value on DK tonight.

Dewayne Dedmon (MIA)
FanDuel – $4,000
DraftKings – $3,500

Centers are a bit thin tonight, so punting the position is a viable strategy. Dedmon isn’t going to break the slate, but he should be able to pay off his bargain salary. The extra savings can then be applied to pay up tonight at the other positions.
