It’s time to rock another NBA DFS Risers Playbook for DraftKings and Fanduel.. Check out this spot every day for our first look at standout Vegas totals, pace up spots, and notable injury news. At the end I’ll address how I would handle this slate with the info we have available.
Check out the big night from Coach SCrosby!!
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Atlanta Hawks O/U 232
The highest implied total on the slate features the exciting Hawks and the Cavaliers who are off to a 3-2 start to the season. It’s hard not to like John Collins on both sites with a price of 7.5k on Draftkings and 7k on FanDuel. The stars from each team are pricey with Cavs’ Andre Drummond coming in at 9.2k on DK and 10k on FD, and the Hawks’ Trae Young costing 10.2k on Draftkings and 9.7k on FanDuel. If I’m looking for a value flyer Dante Exum is my guy on both sites. He’ll run you 3.6k on both sites.
Orlando Magic @ Oklahoma City Thunder O/U 219
This game is easy to read at the top but a lot harder in the middle and bottom. You have to start with Orlando’s Nikola Vucevic and OKC’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander when considering players from this game. They’re the studs of their teams and will do the bulk of the fantasy scoring. Vuc costs 8.7k and 8.4k on Draftkings and FanDuel respectively. SGA comes in at a slightly cheaper 7.9k and 8.2k. My value play on both sites is Michael Carter-Williams with a price of 4.1k on DK and 3.8k on FD.
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Atlanta Hawks
As I mentioned this is the highest total on the slate. The Hawks are in a pace up spot with the Cavaliers pushing a 103 pace rating compared to Atlanta’s 98.7. On the flipside the Hawks average 111.8 points/game compared to Cleveland’s 106.9. On a five game slate it’s hard not to be on a team that averages more points while potentially playing faster than normal.
Charlotte Hornets @ Philadelphia 76ers
The Sixers find themselves in a pace up spot in today’s matchup. Charlotte’s pace rating is 3.2 points more than Philly. On DraftKings I like Danny Green (3.6k) and Devonte’ Graham (6.3k) as my tournament flyers. I don’t feel that strongly about any one offs on FanDuel. There are three upper tier players in this game in Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Gordon Hayward. I don’t see all three of them going off and I’m leaning towards using at most one of them in my lineups.
Aaron Gordon – He’s been on a minutes restriction to start the season. Keep an eye on the latest news if you’re considering using him today.
Danillo Gallinari – It’s been a rocky start to the season for Danillo on the injury front. He’s out today so no need for consideration.
Rajon Rondo – He’s out today as well. Not that I was looking to play him but it’s important if you’re trying to figure out rotations and using our depth chart tool.
Terrence Ross – He’ll play today although he’s been dealing with a right hamstring lately. I’m always a little wary of guys dealing with lower body injuries so I’ll be passing on Ross today.
Andre Drummond – I like the Big Drumm on both sites. We only have five games so why not rock with the guy averaging over 50 fantasy points over his last five games?
Nikola Vucevic – Vuc is the main scoring and rebounding option for his team, in a game with the second highest implied total on the slate. If you’re expecting Orlando to be competitive that means Nikola has to play well.
Michael Carter-Williams – This is my FanDuel value play target. MCW is 3.8k on FanDuel so 7x value would be 26.6 fantasy points. 6x would put him at 22.8 fantasy points. I see him falling somewhere between 22-27 fantasy points.
T.J. McConnell – This is my DraftKings value play target. McConnell costs 3.5k on DraftKings so 6x value places him at 21 fantasy points. 5x would give him 17.5 fantasy points. Somewhere between 17 and 21 fantasy points is definitely achievable for T.J.
These are my EARLY targets. If you want targets from our NBA coaches closer to lock, check out NBA Building Blocks!
