Welcome to the NBA DFS Risers Playbook for DraftKings and Fanduel! Every morning we will highlight standout Vegas totals, pace up spots, notable injury news, and how I would attack the slate given the information we have in the morning. We have a 10 game slate so grab a cup of coffee and let’s get into it!
Washington Wizards @ Boston Celtics O/U 234.5- Death, taxes, and the Wizards playing in the game with the highest total on the slate. Washington does not exactly have a strong defense and they play at a very high pace which explains the high total.
Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook are in play as they always are. They can both hit their ceiling on any given night and there doesn’t seem to be any noticeable negative correlation there. It’s worth noting that Westbrook dislocated his finger against Philly but, my gut tells me he will tape it up and play through the injury.
Thomas Bryant draws a decent matchup against the likes of Tristan Thompson and Daniel Theis. My other early targets include Davis Bertans and Rui Hachimura.
Boston is shorthanded coming into this one with a mix of injuries and covid-19 protocols to contend with. I’m analyzing under the assumption that Jeff Teague is out and Tristian Thompson is in.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both look great against this Wizards’ defense. I wouldn’t be surprised if they both put up 30 real-life points in this one. Marcus Smart has been rock solid this year providing 30 points on DraftKings in 4 of his last 5 games. He could hit a ceiling game if he gets hot from long distance. I will like Daniel Theis a lot if Tristan Thompson is out.
Utah Jazz @ Milwaukee Bucks 231.5- The Bucks are typically in the high total games because of their high pace and ability to score at will. Not exactly hard analysis here but, I’d lock in Giannis Antetokounmpo for cash games and prioritize him in tournaments. Kris Middleton is a bit too pricy for my liking on both sites but, he has the potential to get 40 real-life points on any night.
Jrue Holiday is a guy that always seems to be in my player pool for tournaments. My only other early target from Milwaukee is Brook Lopez on FanDuel but, he’s a fringe guy at most due to opportunity cost.
Just to be completely honest, none of the players on the Jazz stand out as priority targets for me. Outside of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert as low volume MME plays, I do not see myself getting too many Jazz players on today’s slate.
There are just too many other good spots to choose from and I don’t see a ton of upside in this Jazz roster on a nightly basis. Their studs do not produce like studs and their value guys are priced to the point where they really aren’t great values.
Los Angeles Clippers- The Clippers get a matchup against a Golden State team that runs at the highest pace in NBA. The Clippers look to be fully healthy and ready to go for this one. Kawhi Leonard could end up being a low owned stud play today. Nicholas Batum has sneakily been really good this season. I like his price point on both sites.
Boston Celtics- As mentioned before, the Celtics get a matchup with a Wizards team that runs the floor at a high pace and plays very little defense. I will have Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown at volume and mix in the value pieces from this team. Marcus Smart is a good high floor cash play for me.
Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant- Durant is still in the covid-19 protocol and Kyrie appears to be out for personal reasons. Fire up Caris LeVert again for this slate. He’s still priced in the mid-range when he provides stud production without Kyrie and Durant.
Christian Wood- Wood is a game-time decision with a knee injury. If he is out, fire up DeMarcus Cousins and don’t think twice.
Russell Westbrook- As I mentioned before, Westbrook is dealing with a dislocated finger and could be out for this one. If he is out, Rau Neto becomes a great value play and a cash game lock for me.
Giannis Antetokounmpo- You can routinely pencil in Ginnis as the top pay up option on most slates. I like the matchup against the Jazz with a high game total. The only thing that could slow down Giannis today is foul trouble. I’m locking him into my cash builds and prioritizing him in GPPs.
Jayson Tatum- I’ve touched on the amazing matchup Tatum has today. I expect him to score at will against this Wizards defense and his price point is favorable on both sites.
Zion Williamson- We get Zion against a Charlotte team that does not have a frontcourt that can slow the big man down and he is priced under $8,000 on both sites. Zion looks really good in my first look.
De’Anthony Melton- Melton makes it in as my early look value of the day. He gets a matchup against a Brooklyn team that runs the floor at a high pace and should see around 20 minutes in this one. There is a good chance Melton smashes value on today’s slate.
