NBA DFS Risers Playbook for Draftkings and FanDuel December 27

Happy Sunday and welcome to the NBA DFS Risers Playbook for DraftKings and Fanduel for December 27th. Check out this spot every morning for our first look at standout Vegas totals, pace up spots, notable injury news. At the end I’ll address how I would handle this slate with the info we have available.

Notable Vegas Totals

Brooklyn Nets @ Charlotte Hornets O/U 230

The Hornets, fresh off of losing at the buzzer to Oklahoma City welcome the Eastern Conference favorites in the Brooklyn Nets. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and the Nets are favored by 10, and I’m expecting a blowout. Durant and Irving are in play of course and I’ll add Caris Levert and Jarrett Allen to my mix. As far as the Hornets go I like Devonte’ Graham and Terry Rozier. It’s too early in the season to make an educated guess about Charlotte’s rotations once the game is out of hand.

Orlando Magic @ Washington Wizards O/U 229.5

The Magic and Wizards play again and after yesterday’s fantasy goodness this is a good game to grab a few players from again. I like Nikola Vucevic and Markell Fultz on the Orlando side and Bradley Beal and Thomas Bryant on the Washington side. I’m not big on Russell Westbrook if he plays in this game. He’s 9.7k on Draftkings and 11.2k on FanDuel. No thank you.

Pace Up Spots

Orlando Magic & Washington Wizards – It’s early in the season but as things stand now Washington is 2nd in the league in pace and Orlando is 3rd in the league. Like yesterday, I want to target the main players or “high usage” players from both teams. I mentioned above that I’m out on Russell Westbrook but I’m still on Bradley Beal, Thomas Bryant, Nikola Vucevic, and Markell Fultz.

Golden State Warriors & Chicago Bulls – Here’s another instance of it’s early BUT, the Warriors are 1st in the league in pace and the Bulls come in 5th. Both of these teams have looked awful in the first week of the season, but I’d focus on Coby White and Patrick Williams from the Bulls and Steph Curry and James Wiseman from the Warriors.

San Antonio Spurs & New Orleans Pelicans – The Spurs are tied for 6th in pace at 108.3 while the Pelicans come in at 17th with a 103.7 rating. The pace boost should be good for Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and (gulp) Eric Bledsoe. On the San Antonio side of the ball I’m looking for DeMar DeRozan and Dejounte Murray to benefit the most.

Injury News

Draymond Green– Green is currently listed as a game time decision. He’s dealing with a foot injury so I’m giving him a game or two before I start to consider him for my lineups.

Kemba Walker– Walker is expected to be out until at least January 10th. There’s no need to consider him for the next few games.

Thaddeus Young– Young is dealing with a leg infection and is currently listed as a game time decision for tonight’s game against the Warriors. I’m usually wary of lower body injuries but a leg infection is different (to me) than a sprained foot or ankle.

Early Targets

Bradley Beal– Beal costs 8.9k on Draftkings and 8.5k on FanDuel. The price makes him a better play on FD but I’m looking for Beal to have a strong game no matter what. And once again, if Westbrook doesn’t play Beal becomes that much better of a choice.

Eric Bledsoe– I know, I know. He let us down recently but that’s more reason to hop on him today in a game with a decent pace and a 228.5 implied total. The only negative I could give is that his price has gone up on Draftkings from 5.6k to 5.8k. His cost has held at 5.6k on FanDuel so he’s a slightly better play there.

Jaylen Brown– Brown has started off the season with two good performances and really looks to have raised his game a bit since last season. He’ll run you 7.5k on DK and 8k on FD which I think is fair since he’s averaging around 48 fantasy points per game right now.

These are my EARLY targets. If you want targets from our NBA coaches closer to lock, check out NBA Building Blocks!
