Know Your Scoring System
It’s important to understand the scoring system used by the Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) platform you’re playing on. Two of the most popular platforms for NBA DFS are DraftKings and FanDuel, and they each have their own unique scoring systems.
DraftKings awards players 1 point for each point they score, 0.5 points for each made 3-point shot, 1.25 points for each rebound, 1.5 points for each assist, 2 points for each steal, 2 points for each block, and subtracts 0.5 points for each turnover. The platform also awards a double-double bonus of 1.5 points for players who achieve a double-double in points, rebounds, assists, blocks, or steals. And for those who record a triple-double, a bonus of 3 points is awarded.
On the other hand, FanDuel awards 3 points for each made 3-point shot, 2 points for each made 2-point shot, 1 point for each made free throw, 1.2 points for each rebound, 1.5 points for each assist, 3 points for each block, 3 points for each steal, and subtracts 1 point for each turnover.
It’s crucial to be familiar with the scoring system of the platform you’re playing on, as it will directly impact your strategy and help you make informed decisions on player selection.
