Celtics studs

Derrick White (FD – $7200, DK – $7100)

Derrick White is in a great spot tonight due to the absence of three primary playmakers on the Celtics’ roster: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart. White has been playing huge minutes in recent games, with at least 32 minutes in his last seven games, and an average of 38.3 minutes per game in his last four games since Brown went down. As a result, he’s been putting up big numbers, scoring at least 36 DraftKings points in five of his last six games, and averaging over 40 fantasy points per game in that span. With Boston’s thin backcourt, White is likely to see plenty of usage and playing time, making him an excellent option at his current pricing.

Malcolm Brogdon (FD – $5600, DK – $5700)

Malcolm Brogdon should be in line for an uptick in minutes and usage in this game, given the Celtics’ injury issues. Although he didn’t play much in the last game, he’s likely to see 30+ minutes off the bench in this one. With Tatum, Brown, and Smart out, the Pacers will need his offense, and he could see 15-20 shots and a 30 percent usage rate. Brogdon has already been posting a 27-point average in a limited bench role, and we believe he can double that with this expanded opportunity. Even in a worst-case scenario, he should be able to put up 25-30 fantasy points, which is still a good return for a sub-$6K player. At his current pricing, he’s an excellent value play.

Fred VanVleet DK $9,200 – FD $8,800

Fred VanVleet is on a roll right now, scoring at least 42 fantasy points in 12 of his last 14 games, with a 48-point average in that span. His role in the team is also solid, taking 21 shots and playing 39 minutes per game in that same stretch. Moreover, he faces an outstanding matchup against the Orlando Magic, a team he already dropped 44 fantasy points on in their most recent matchup.

He will benefit from playing on his home court and will have plenty of opportunities to make threes, as the Magic allow the sixth-most threes per game in the league.

The Raptors have some injury issues, with OG Anunoby out due to a wrist issue and Precious Achiuwa (ankle) and Gary Trent Jr. (calf) listed as questionable for tonight’s game. VanVleet will be the primary beneficiary, as Anunoby and Trent Jr. are vital scoring pieces for the team. Without them, VanVleet sees a massive lift in his usage rate (7.9 percentage points), which he has turned into an average of 46.5 FanDuel points per 36 minutes.

Although there are other high-salaried options on the slate, VanVleet is in a great position to exploit an Orlando defense that’s middle-of-the-road in most categories against point guards. Even though he may take a back seat to Damian Lillard for most, VanVleet should be well-positioned to make a significant impact for his team tonight.

Damian Lillard DK 11,100 – FD $10,400

Damian Lillard is one of the hottest players in the league right now, and it’s hard to ignore the value he brings to any fantasy lineup. Lillard has been on an absolute tear, scoring at least 57 DraftKings points in 17 of his last 21 games, with a whopping 57-point average in that span. He’s a reliable source of points, rebounds, and assists, and he’s a must-have in any fantasy lineup.

Lillard’s performance on Monday against the Lakers is a perfect example of what he’s capable of. Despite sitting out the final six minutes of the game due to a blowout, he still managed to collect 40 points, six rebounds, and five assists.

Portland has the highest total on the slate, making Lillard a top play against a Washington team that allowed 135 points on Monday. While his price is up there, he’s worth the investment given his recent form and the high-scoring potential of this matchup.

Domantas Sabonis

Domantas Sabonis has been on fire recently, with a streak of four straight games and seven of his last eight games with over 40 FanDuel points. While he faces a tricky matchup against the Suns, who allow the 11th-fewest FanDuel points per game to centers, Sabonis has the best per-dollar projection of any center above $7,000 on the short slate.

Despite his low usage rate of 21.2%, Sabonis has been consistent, posting at least 45 FanDuel points in his last five games with his full workload above 36 minutes. His production rate of 46.5 FanDuel points per 36 minutes for the season is impressive and removes the volatility that can come with a cold shooting night.
