Kevin Durant, PHX vs. UTA
Kevin Durant is a name that needs no introduction in the world of NBA DFS. The Phoenix Suns are expected to be without key players Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, which means Durant is set to take the helm of the offense. Anticipate Durant logging 35-40 minutes, hoisting 20-25 shots, and boasting a remarkable 35 percent usage rate.
If Thursday’s performance is any indication, where Durant dropped a staggering 53 fantasy points, he’s virtually impossible to fade in this expanded role. The matchup against the 23rd-ranked Utah defense from last year only adds to his appeal.
Tyrese Maxey, PHI at TOR
Tyrese Maxey has been a revelation in the opening week of the NBA season. Maxey has been carrying the Philadelphia 76ers’ offense in the absence of James Harden. His Sixers’ opener saw him tally 31 points, four rebounds, eight assists, and two steals, delivering a whopping 54 fantasy points.
While duplicating such a performance might be a tall order, Maxey remains an enticing play as the primary ball-handler with Harden on the sidelines. Expect him to see 35-40 minutes, take around 20 shots, and maintain a 30 percent usage rate, all at an affordable price.
Scottie Barnes, TOR vs. PHI
In Toronto, Scottie Barnes is emerging as the primary playmaker. His versatility has been on full display, with impressive outings of 48 and 51 fantasy points in his first two games. The icing on the cake was his triple-double on a Friday night. Facing the Philadelphia 76ers might not be a walk in the park, but Barnes has shown his upside, especially with O.G. Anunoby likely sidelined due to injury. Barnes could be a game-changer in your DFS lineup.
Xavier Tillman, MEM at WAS
Memphis has had its fair share of injuries, and Xavier Tillman has stepped up to the plate. With key players like Ja Morant, Steven Adams, Santi Aldama, and Brandon Clarke out, Tillman is set to play significant minutes as a starter. He’s already delivered impressive performances with 36 and 49 fantasy points in his first two games.
With the depleted Memphis frontcourt, Tillman is practically the team’s only option at center, ensuring a steady stream of minutes. Plus, he faces a Washington team that surrendered a whopping 143 points in their season opener. Tillman’s value is undeniable.
