NBA DFS Top Plays for Friday 01/27/23

Giannis Antetokounmpo (FD $11,500 – DK $11,500)

It’s great to see Giannis back and fully healthy. He’s one of the best fantasy producers in the league when he’s at his best. The Greek Freak has scored at least 40 fantasy points in all but two games this year, averaging 59 points per game. He’s also shown an 80-point upside on multiple occasions and should excel against the 25th-ranked Indiana defense. In their most recent matchup, Antetokounmpo amassed 50 points and 14 rebounds, further emphasizing his potential in this game.

After missing five games, Giannis Antetokounmpo has returned to form, scoring at least 50 DraftKings points in consecutive outings. On the season, the Greek Freak is averaging an impressive 31.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game

Despite losing minutes due to fouls and turnovers in his last game, Giannis Antetokounmpo is still a top option for fantasy players. He’ll be back in action tonight and even at these high price points, he’s still a great value option on the slate. The Pacers play at the 3rd-fastest pace in the league and rank 25th in defense, making for a favorable matchup. With the Bucks missing Bobby Portis and still working Khris Middleton back into the lineup, they need Giannis more than ever. His ability to pile on points makes the high cost worth it for fantasy players.

Jaren Jackson (FD $7,800 – $6,600)

Jaren Jackson Jr. (PF/C – MEM) is a player to watch out for on both DraftKings and FanDuel platforms, with a price tag of $6,600 and $7,800 respectively. The young power forward has been hindered by injuries, limited role, and inconsistent rebounding throughout his career. However, with a fully healthy JJJ and the absence of Steven Adams, the potential for a greater role on the team is there.

He’s averaging 36 DraftKings points per game in just 26 minutes of playtime, and with an increased role and minutes, he could easily reach $9K player level. This makes him an appealing option against the Minnesota Timberwolves defense, who rank fourth in fantasy points allowed surrendering the most fantasy points to opposing power forwards. Keep an eye on JJJ’s playing time and role in the game, as he has a tendency to pick up fouls, but when given the opportunity he can be a valuable addition to your fantasy lineup.

Darius Garland (FD $8,500 – DK $8,300)

With Donovan Mitchell potentially out of the lineup due to a groin injury, Garland is expected to take on an even larger role in the offense. In the nine games that Mitchell has missed this year, Garland has averaged an impressive 49.8 fantasy points per game. This includes a career-high 70 DK points performance earlier in the season, showcasing his ability to step up and take charge when called upon.

It’s not just the absence of Mitchell that makes Garland an appealing option, but also the matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder currently sit 20th in total defense, making for a favorable matchup for Garland and the Cavaliers offense. Additionally, the Thunder play at the third-fastest pace in the league, which could lead to more opportunities for Garland to score and rack up fantasy points.

Of course, the recommendation of Garland here is somewhat dependent on the status of Mitchell. It’s worth keeping an eye on the injury reports leading up to the game, as the Cavaliers may decide to sit Mitchell as a precaution on the front end of a back-to-back. But even if Mitchell is active, Garland has proven that he can still produce at a high level and should be considered a strong option in fantasy lineups.

In Thursday night’s game against the Rockets, Garland delivered a solid performance with 26 points and 9 rebounds in just 33 minutes. He has been a consistent contributor for the team this season and if Mitchell sits out, Garland is poised to be a great fantasy option. With the matchup against the Thunder, who have played at the fifth-fastest pace in the league, Garland should be able to exploit their defense and put up big numbers. The Cavaliers may be on the second night of a back-to-back, but Garland’s modest minutes in the previous game means he should be fresh and ready to produce.

Jrue Holiday (FD $8,300 – DK $8,500)

Jrue Holiday is a solid option to consider for tonight’s slate, as he has been a consistent performer for the Milwaukee Bucks this season. He averages 19.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.3 assists on the year. With Serge Ibaka and Bobby Portis both out, Holiday is projected to have a 27.13% usage rate across 33.5 minutes, making him an attractive option.

The Bucks are currently dealing with some injury issues, but even with Giannis playing, Holiday is worth considering in the $8K range. If possible, stacking Jrue and Giannis in cash games is a smart move against the Pacers, who have been playing below-average defense and at a fast pace.

Jarrett Allen (FD $7,700 – $6,000)

Jarrett Allen has been a consistent performer for the Cavaliers, exceeding 40 DraftKings points in three of his last eight games, with a high of 52.3 points. He has been averaging 17.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game.

He will be a key player for the Cavaliers against the Thunder, who are struggling to defend the paint and the boards, currently ranked as the worst team in rebounds and 8th worst in points in the paint. Allen’s production may have decreased compared to last season, but he is still averaging 14.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game, making him a valuable asset for Cleveland in this matchup.

Whether you’re playing in a cash game or a tournament, these players are sure to provide a strong return on investment. Be sure to keep an eye on player news and updates leading up to the games, but with solid matchups and favorable situations, these players are poised for success.
