NBA DFS Top Plays for Friday 02/03/23

Domantas Sabonis DK $10,100 – FD $9,900

Domantas Sabonis was finally named an All-Star this week and it’s not hard to see why. Over the past 28 games, the big man has scored at least 41 DraftKings points in 26 of them, averaging 49 points during that stretch. He’s running the offense like Nikola Jokic, which makes him a great pick in a revenge game against the Indiana Pacers, who allow the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing centers.

With Fox out of the lineup, Sabonis doesn’t see a significant increase in usage (22.3% compared to 22%) but the favorable matchup against the Pacers still makes him a strong play. This game has a high 237.5 over/under and Indiana has one of the worst defenses in the league. Sabonis contributes across the stat line and his sub-$10K price on FanDuel is particularly appealing, especially at the power forward position which is often weaker.

Sabonis recently had a great performance with 62.2 FanDuel points against the Spurs and averages 47.8 per 36 minutes when De’Aaron Fox is off the floor, making him a popular choice among DFS players on Friday.

Joel Embiid DK $11,300 – FD $11,500

It’ll be tough to pass up on the talented big man, Joel Embiid. He’s made a strong push into the MVP conversation with his impressive performance over the last 30 games, putting up an average of 35 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game. This amounts to over 60 DraftKings points per game, which could be considered his floor in this matchup against the Spurs, who have the worst defense in the league and allow the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing centers.

The 76ers are favored by 10 points on the road against one of the weakest teams in the league, so there’s a chance of a blowout, but that won’t stop Embiid from continuing his dominant play. With an average of 33 points, 10 rebounds, and nearly 3 combined blocks and steals per game this season, the Spurs simply don’t have what it takes to contain Embiid. He makes for a strong spend-up option in this favorable matchup.

Lastly, Joel Embiid is a player to keep an eye on. Despite two somewhat quiet games, he is coming off a 47-point, 18-rebound, five-assist performance against the Nuggets last Saturday. He has a positive matchup tonight against the Spurs, who rank 22nd in center efficiency, and is projected to have a usage rate of 35.09% across 35 minutes of play.

Spurs Opporutniy: Keldon Johnson & Josh Richardson

With Tre Jones and Jeremy Sochan out, the Spurs face a significant challenge against the 76ers. However, this absence provides opportunities for the rest of the lineup to step up. Keldon Johnson is one of the few players who can be relied on to play substantial minutes, averaging around 33 on the season. He is expected to see a usage boost due to the team’s current state and has been averaging 23 points per game in the last two months, with an increased volume of three-pointers.

Josh Richardson, who started for Tre Jones in the last game, could start again. He played 29 minutes, taking 13 shots, which was the second-most on the team. His well-rounded performance of 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists make him a viable option, despite the tough matchup against the 76ers.

Fred VanVleet DK $8,300 – FD $8,900

Fred VanVleet has been on a hot streak lately, scoring at least 41 DraftKings points in 9 consecutive games, averaging 52 DK points per game in that span. The matchup against Houston is an excellent opportunity, as they give up the most fantasy points to opposing point guards.

In his last game against the Jazz, Fred recorded a triple-double with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, while adding a steal and a block. He is projected to play 39 minutes with a 25.83% usage rate in tonight’s game against Houston.

Pascal Siakam DK $9,100 – FD $9,200

Although Pascal Siakam is currently in a bit of a slump, he is a great option for this matchup against Houston, who ranks 28th in defensive efficiency. Siakam averages 47 DraftKings points per game and went off for 63 DK points the last time he faced the Rockets.

Houston has no one to stop Siakam, who is a versatile big man and takes advantage of Houston’s tendency to give up the most turnovers and seventh-most points per game in the league.
