NBA DFS Top Plays for Friday 2/24/23

Evan Mobley DK $7,400 – FD $7,300

Evan Mobley may not be the top offensive option for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he’s been consistently delivering in terms of fantasy production. He played 38 minutes in the game against the Denver Nuggets last night and that kind of usage makes him a bargain at his current salary on both Fanduel and Draftkings. As he continues to see extended playing time, Mobley is poised to put up even better numbers, especially with the departure of Kevin Love.

Mobley has been developing his offensive skills and it shows. He’s become more assertive on that end of the court, making him a nightmare matchup for opposing teams. With the Atlanta Hawks missing John Collins, the Cavs rookie could see plenty of favorable matchups that he can exploit. He’s scored at least 30 Draftkings points in 17 consecutive games, with an impressive 41-point average in that span.

Given his recent form and Atlanta’s defensive struggles against power forwards, Mobley is a strong play for both cash games and GPPs.

LaMelo Ball DK $11,000 – FD $10,300

LaMelo Ball is one of the most expensive players on this slate, but he is also one of the best options. The Charlotte Hornets face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a high-scoring game that could provide a lot of fantasy points.

Ball has been in excellent form recently, scoring over 50 DK points in six of his last seven games and flirting with triple-doubles nightly. With the T’Wolves allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing point guards, Ball has a good chance of putting up a huge performance. He scored 47 DraftKings points in their most recent matchup, and with the T’Wolves ranking fourth in pace and 20th in total defense, Ball’s triple-double average in his last 11 games could very well continue.

Ball is certainly an expensive option, but he is worth paying up for if you want a player with high upside. In a game that is expected to be fast-paced and high-scoring, Ball is likely to provide a great return on investment.

Anthony Edwards DK $9,100 – FD $9,400

If you’re looking to spend up on a player tonight, it might be worth considering Anthony Edwards. The Timberwolves are facing the Charlotte Hornets, who rank 24th in defensive efficiency and second in pace, making them a great matchup for DFS purposes. Edwards has taken on an expanded role with D’Angelo Russell traded and Karl-Anthony Towns injured, and he’s been up to the task.

Over his last 19 games, he’s averaging 46 DraftKings points per game across 36 minutes a night. He’s also been shooting the ball a ton lately, averaging 23.5 shots per game over the last four, with 30+ points in three of those games. At his current price, it seems like he’s still a tad underpriced for this favorable matchup.

Edwards has been doing everything for the team, and he should be able to continue that against Charlotte, who are 24th in defensive efficiency and 28th in points allowed.

Edwards has a high usage rate and plays the most minutes on the team, making him a great option for DFS tonight. With a projected 45.9 DraftKings points and a value tier of A or better, Edwards should be in plenty of lineups tonight.

Jrue Holiday DK $8,900 – FD $8,000

Jrue Holiday is a good play in the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who will be out for the game due to a wrist injury. Holiday has a 33% usage rate when Giannis is not on the court, which is the highest on the team.

He is also averaging nearly 50 DraftKings points per game in such situations. Even though the Miami Heat are not an easy matchup, Holiday has had at least 37 DK points in five straight fixtures while generating a 44-point average in that span. On FanDuel, his price is a bit too low, making him a good play, especially if you expect him to log heavy minutes.

Jordan Poole DK $8,300 – FD $8,300

Jordan Poole, PG/SG for the Golden State Warriors, is facing off against the Houston Rockets on a back-to-back. The Rockets have been struggling on defense and especially against point guards, making this a good opportunity for Poole. In the absence of Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins, Poole and Klay Thompson are expected to lead the scoring for the Warriors, giving Poole an elevated usage.

He has already taken over starting point guard duties and his price has been reduced from the previous day. This makes him a good play, especially on DraftKings where he is priced at $8,300. A matchup with the Rockets, who allow the most fantasy points to opposing point guards, further strengthens his appeal.

On DraftKings, Poole is projected to score 40.37 fantasy points and has a value tier of B. Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Donte DiVincenzo, and Kevon Looney are some of the other players to consider for this matchup.

Rudy Gobert DK $7,200 – FD $7,900

Rudy Gobert is a solid choice for fantasy basketball, especially in his upcoming matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. Despite concerns about his playing time, he played big minutes in his last game before the All-Star break and recorded an impressive 36 fantasy points. With 17 points, 19 rebounds, and three blocks, Gobert is poised to take advantage of Charlotte’s weak interior defense and tendency to allow frequent blocks and rebounds.

While recent trends suggest that the “centers against Charlotte” strategy may be becoming less productive, Gobert’s recent form and price point make him a smart choice in this matchup. He’s coming off two huge double-doubles in his last two games against Dallas and Washington.

Moreover, the recent acquisition of Mike Conley Jr. by the Timberwolves could be a positive factor for Gobert. The two players previously played together with the Jazz and developed a strong chemistry. In the three games since Conley joined the lineup, Gobert has averaged 15.3 points, 14.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. Given that Charlotte allows the second-most rebounds per game, Gobert has the potential to deliver another impressive stat line in this game.
