Before we dive into today’s NBA DFS top plays for this slate, I want to make sure you’re aware of a powerful tool that can help give you a competitive edge in NBA DFS. Our NBA DFS Rankings tool assigns a letter grades (A, B, C, D, E) to each player based on their projected performance and value for the day. And the best part? It’s completely free to use every day. So, after you read this article, make sure to check out our NBA DFS Rankings tool to help you build your lineup tonight.

So, let’s dive in and take a closer look at some of the best value picks for NBA DFS on Thursday, March 16th.

Jaren Jackson Jr.

The Memphis Grizzlies are in a great matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, making them an excellent option for DFS tonight. One player who cannot be overlooked in the top NBA DFS plays for Friday, March 17th, 2023 is Jaren Jackson Jr., FD – $8500, DK – $7300. Over the last nine games, Jackson has been averaging 19 points, 6.6 rebounds, and just about three blocks+steals per game, all while playing over 30 minutes per game.

Without Ja Morant in the lineup, Jackson’s usage has been high, and he has as much defensive upside as anyone in basketball. The price is not an issue at all on DraftKings, and on FanDuel, with the added weight to the defensive stats, Jackson makes for an easy pick.

The Grizzlies face the Spurs, who have the worst defensive rating and play at the fifth-fastest pace, making this a great matchup for Jackson. With Morant still out due to suspension, Jackson’s potential is sky-high, and he should not be overlooked in your DFS lineup. So if you’re looking for a player with great value and upside, Jaren Jackson Jr. is definitely worth considering.

Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid is currently one of the top players in the NBA, and his recent performances have only solidified his status as an MVP candidate. With an impressive 62-point average over his last 11 games, including at least 56 DraftKings points in 10 of those contests, Embiid has been a fantasy monster. However, his upcoming matchup against the Charlotte Hornets could be his best opportunity yet to put up some truly gaudy numbers.

Charlotte has been the most generous team in the NBA to opposing centers, and Embiid absolutely destroyed them in their last meeting, racking up a massive 76 DraftKings points. With Charlotte’s frontcourt depleted and struggling to defend the paint, Embiid could easily post another huge line.

The only downside to rostering Embiid is the possibility that he gets rested in the second half of a potential blowout. However, that risk is small compared to the reward of playing one of the best players in the league in a dream matchup. If you’re looking for a top-tier option at center on Friday, Embiid should be at the top of your list.

Desmond Bane

Desmond Bane is quickly becoming a household name in the NBA, and his performance in DFS has been nothing short of impressive. He has been leading the charge for the Memphis Grizzlies with Ja Morant out of the lineup, boasting a 33 percent usage rate and an average of 1.3 DK points per minute. Bane has been a consistent performer, scoring at least 38 fantasy points in 12 of his last 16 games, and averaging 39 points during that span. To make matters even better, the Grizzlies will face off against the Spurs, who rank last in both points allowed and defensive efficiency.

Although Bane has seen a slight decrease in shot attempts in the short term, he still remains the team’s go-to option on offense when Ja is out. This recent dip in production has helped keep Bane’s price in check, making him an excellent value for cash games. Bane and the Grizzlies should continue to drive the majority of the offense in this game, making Memphis a high-floor play for DFS lineups.

Trae Young

Friday night features an exciting matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks, two high-octane teams with plenty of firepower. While Stephen Curry will likely garner the majority of the attention, Trae Young is an excellent option for DFS players at a slightly lower price point.

The Warriors have struggled defensively this season, and losing Draymond Green for this game is only going to exacerbate that issue. The lack of rim protection means that Young should be able to attack the basket with ease, which is when he is at his most dangerous. Young’s game is often compared to Curry’s, and like Curry, he is more than capable of scoring in the paint.

Expect this game to be a shootout, and pairing both point guards in a game stack could pay dividends for tournament purposes. While Curry is sure to be popular, Young has the potential to put up a crooked number and should not be overlooked by savvy DFS players.
