NBA DFS Top Plays for Monday 02/13/23

Damian Lillard DK $11,100 – FD $10,400

Damian Lillard is the top play at point guard on Monday. The Portland Trail Blazers star has been lighting up the league since the start of 2023, putting up an average of 50 fantasy points per game on either DraftKings or FanDuel in 21 contests. In two previous matchups against the Los Angeles Lakers, Lillard has averaged 50.6 DK/46.1 FD points while shooting 47.6 percent.

The Lakers have struggled against point guards this season, allowing the eighth-highest offensive efficiency rating to the position and the third-most points per game on both DraftKings (52.2) and FanDuel (51.2). With Lillard in the midst of an incredible hot streak, scoring 56 DraftKings points in 12 of his last 16 games, he should have no trouble putting up another big performance on Monday.

Lillard is averaging 37.9 points, 7.5 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game, making him one of the most productive players in the league. He’s an excellent option for Monday’s slate, as the Lakers rank 27th in points allowed and third in pace, setting the stage for another high-scoring outing from this motivated guard.

Lauri Markkanen DK $9,100 – FD $7,600

As a key figure in the Jazz’s offense, Markkanen has elevated his game in the new year, averaging 26.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on a 47.9% shooting clip in his 17 games this year. In his lone match-up against the Pacers, the big man put up an impressive 50.3 DK/46.1 FD points in just 33 minutes on the court.

The Pacers have been vulnerable against small forwards, allowing the sixth-highest offensive efficiency rating (23.4) to the position, along with 39.5% three-point shooting. Indiana also gives up the fourth-most DK (43.8) and third-most FD (43) points per game, as well as the most rebounds (9.0) and seventh-most assists (4.0) to the position.

On a 11-game slate with a limited pool of high-end forward options, Markkanen stands out. With the absence of top choices like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, and LeBron James, Markkanen’s recent string of solid performances make him a top choice among the limited options. Although he has underperformed in four of his past five games, he still managed to put up 47.25 DKFP in a tough match-up against the Knicks. With a favorable match-up against the Pacers, Markkanen has the potential to surpass value at his price point.

Trae Young DK $9,700 – FD $9,800

Young has been playing very well lately, and he has a great opportunity to continue that against a weak Charlotte defense. The Hornets rank 28th in defense and are allowing the seventh-highest offensive efficiency rating to point guards (22.0). They also rank seventh in pace, so this could be a fast-paced and high-scoring game, which bodes well for Young’s fantasy prospects.

Additionally, Young has had success against the Hornets this season, averaging nearly 50 fantasy points per game in their three matchups. He’s been on a roll lately, scoring at least 46 DK points in six of his last seven games and putting up some big performances, including 58.5 and 66.25 DraftKings points in his last two outings.

At his salary, Young is one of the best values of the night among backcourt options. Both Damian Lillard and Luka Doncic are more expensive and have higher fantasy production, but Young’s salary is still comfortably under $10k, making it easier for him to reach value. This game should be a good opportunity for Young to continue his recent success and put up another strong fantasy performance.

Jordan Poole DK $7,800 –  FD $ 7,800

Jordan Poole is a solid pick for DFS players looking for a value option at the guard position. With increased minutes, usage, and production in the absence of Stephen Curry, Poole has been putting up impressive numbers recently, scoring at least 46 DraftKings points in three straight games.

Additionally, the matchup against Washington’s 26th-ranked defense against guards provides a favorable environment for Poole to continue his recent success. With an average of 1.25 fantasy points per minute and a projected 44 points with a goal of 50, Poole is a promising pick for those looking for a budget-friendly option in the backcourt.

Joel Embiid DK $11,400 – FD $11,700

Embiid is an incredibly talented player who has been dominant this season. He’s averaging over 57 DraftKings points per game and has been even better in recent months, posting an average of 60 points over the last two months. Against Houston, who ranks 25th in points allowed and 28th in defensive efficiency, Embiid is a top target for DFS players.

Although he’s questionable with a foot injury, as long as he’s in the lineup, he’s a solid option for those looking to pay up. He’s shown that he can perform even while dealing with injuries, and his recent back-to-back games where he scored 60.75 DKFP in both contests demonstrate his ability to produce even when banged up.

Cavs Studs vs Spurs

The Cleveland Cavaliers face off against the San Antonio Spurs in a dream matchup for fantasy players. The Spurs have struggled mightily on defense this season, ranking last in both points allowed and defensive efficiency, making them the perfect team for the Cavaliers’ star players to exploit. Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley are all great options for fantasy managers to consider.

Donovan Mitchell is Cleveland’s best player, averaging 44 DK points per game and coming off a 59-point performance. Mitchell has an exceptional opportunity to shine in this game against the Spurs, who struggle against shooting guards and allow the sixth-most points per game to the position. Additionally, their porous defense permits opponents to shoot a league-high 50.9% from the field.

Darius Garland is a reliable guard option, with a floor of 40 DraftKings points in seven of the last 12 games. The Spurs are allowing the NBA-high 31.1 offensive efficiency rating to point guards, along with the fifth-most DK (51.1) and FD (50.3) points per game to the position. Garland has been hot from behind the arc lately, shooting 60 percent from there in the last five contests.

Evan Mobley is a versatile player who has center and power forward eligibility, making him even more appealing for fantasy managers. The Spurs have been equally as porous in their frontcourt, allowing a Western Conference-high 28.6 offensive efficiency rating to power forwards and an NBA-high 49.9 DK/47.9 FD points per game to the position. Mobley has been hot lately, averaging over 40 fantasy points on either site in the last 10 games while shooting 51.7 percent. With his 9.3 rebounds per contest in the last 10 games and the fact that he scores 75 percent of his points in the paint, Mobley is a player to keep an eye on in this matchup.
