NBA DFS Top Plays for Sunday 01/30/23

DraftKings NBA DFS Top Plays featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James"

The NBA season is in full swing, and as DFS players, it’s important to stay on top of the latest trends and top plays. With so many talented players and endless matchups to choose from, it can be difficult to narrow down the best options for your DFS lineup. In this article, we will be breaking down the top plays for today’s slate, highlighting the players that are in a great position to exceed their value and provide a strong return on investment.

NBA DFS Top Value Plays for 1/30/23

Russell Westbrook

Westbrook is a top play for NBA DFS given his triple-double potential, but it depends on how coach Darvin Ham will use him. If he’s allowed to fully unleash his skills, he could go north of 40 FDFP. Westbrook will be in a larger role with James and Davis out, boasting a 35% usage rate and 1.3 DraftKings/1.26 FanDuel points per minute. He’s produced 48 and 43.25 DraftKings points in his last two games without James and Davis and is poised to step up once again in this contest.

There’s a risk of blowout, but Westbrook is a strong option to build around, with a popular appeal due to his elite ceiling at a sub-$8K price on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving has been a machine lately, producing big numbers with Kevin Durant out of the lineup. With a 36% usage rate, Irving has averaged 1.5 DK points per minute, and his recent form is staggering – scoring at least 52 fantasy points in five straight games, with an average of 62 points in that span. The Lakers, who rank 27th in points allowed, are in for a tough night against Irving.

The absence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis makes Irving even more appealing. The Lakers have struggled to defend point guards this season and Beverley’s good defense may not be enough. Irving has carried the load for Brooklyn while Durant has been sidelined, exceeding salary expectations on DK in six straight games with a minimum of 52 DK points in each.

Kristaps Porzingis

The Washington Wizards will receive a boost with the return of Kristaps Porzingis, who missed the last three games with an ankle injury. Before the injury, Porzingis was a dominant force, averaging 42 fantasy points per game and consistently scoring 40-50 fantasy points in each contest. With the Spurs possessing the worst defense in the NBA, Porzingis is expected to reach these numbers once again.

Porzingis, in his last 10 appearances, has averaged 22.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game, with a high of 59.8 DraftKings points. He has a great matchup against the Spurs today as they have allowed their opponents to shoot a league-high 51% from the field while also allowing the second-most points in the paint. The potential for a high-scoring game from Porzingis is enhanced by the Spurs allowing the most fantasy points to opposing power forwards.

While Porzingis’ minutes will be monitored in his first game back, if he is able to play 35-40 minutes, he would be an elite option to build around in DFS lineups. The return of the big man is a welcome sight for the Wizards and DFS players alike as he has the potential to impact the game in multiple categories and provide a high fantasy point output.

Kyle Kuzma

Kuzma is in great form, putting up 24.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game over his last 10 appearances, including four games with over 50 DraftKings points and a high of 61.8. This match against the Spurs is a prime opportunity for Kuzma to continue his high-scoring streak, as the Spurs give up the most points per game in the league (122.2) and allow opponents to shoot an average of 40% from beyond the arc.

The Spurs, with their fast pace of play and weak defense, make for a fantastic matchup for Kuzma. With a 28.0% usage rate, Kuzma is making the most of his opportunities, having improved his assist average to a career-high 4.0. Additionally, he has been averaging 7.6 rebounds per game and grabbing at least 9 boards in five of his last seven games.
The Wizards have the 2nd highest implied team total on the slate, and Kuzma is projected to have one of the top ceilings among power forwards, along with Kristaps Porzingis. Porzingis is returning from an injury and comes at a higher price point, making Kuzma a more attractive option for this favorable matchup.

Despite a recent down game, where he went 4-of-13 from the field and only scored 10 points for 32.75 DraftKings points, Kuzma had been on a hot streak with at least 52 DK points in three of the last four games. His rebounding numbers may decrease slightly with Porzingis back, but Kuzma still has the potential to produce a big double-double against the Spurs.

In conclusion, these are our top picks for today’s NBA DFS slate. Remember to stay up to date with the latest injury news, as it can greatly impact a player’s value and production. It’s also important to build a balanced lineup, considering factors such as player salaries, matchups, and recent performance. With the right combination of players, you can create a winning lineup and take down your next DFS tournament.
