NBA DFS Top Plays for Sunday 02/05/23

Domantas Sabonis DK $10,500 – FD $9,600

We have Embiid and Jokic on this slate at the Center position, but Sabonis may be the standout option with De’Aaron Fox (personal) out. The Pelicans are also missing Zion Williamson and Jonas Valanciunas, making Sabonis a top pick to dominate down low. I’m Expect Sabonis to be in contention for a triple-double performance in this matchup given the circumstances.

On FanDuel, Sabonis is a great value even with only slight bumps in usage (22.8%) and FPTS/min (1.35) without Fox on the floor. The Kings will need Sabonis to lead their offense to success, and that’s a favorable situation for DFS players tonight.

Brandon Ingram DK  $7,100 – FD $7,600

Brandon Ingram (SF/SG-NO): $7,100 on DraftKings, $7,600 on FanDuel

With a high implied total of 235.5, I want to include some exposure from this game in my DFS lineups. One of my top targets is Brandon Ingram, who is playing excellent basketball after missing over a month due to injury. He’s recorded 45+ DKFP in back-to-back games, playing 30+ minutes in three consecutive games. Given his skill set, he’s capable of breaking a slate and winning a GPP. Despite his recent performance, his current salary is priced much lower than usual.

Ingram is a major steal at his current prices on both sites, which were discounted due to his limited workload post-injury. He’s played at least 32 minutes in his last three games, scoring 46 and 49 DKFP in the past two. With this level of form, he was closer to a $9,000 player at the start of the year. The absence of Zion Williamson only adds to his value, as he posts a 32% usage rate without Zion. The Kings’ 21st ranked total defense makes this an even more appealing matchup for Ingram, who has averaged 45 DK points per game in their last four meetings.

Leading the team in usage rate (31.9%) with Zion off the floor, Ingram’s 1.20 FPTS/min easily justifies his current salary. This game environment is favorable, and the Pelicans could be even more shorthanded with the questionable status of Valanciunas and Daniels. The absence of Valanciunas would open up a lot of production, particularly in rebounding, for the remaining players. Ingram shot 15-for-28 in his last game, proving that a player who takes 28 shots in a game shouldn’t have a salary in the low $7,000s.

D’Angelo Russell DK $7,200 – FD $7,400

D’Angelo Russell (PG-MIN) – Russell is a highly volatile player, but he has been very consistent lately. He has posted 35 or more DraftKings Fantasy Points (DKFP) in eight of his last nine games and at least 35 FanDuel points in seven of his last nine games.

Since the injury to Karl-Anthony Towns, Russell has seen an increase in minutes, shot attempts, and usage, averaging over 35 DKFP per game. He is capable of having a big game, as evidenced by his recent season-high 58 DKFP outing.

With several Minnesota players potentially out, Russell could be asked to do even more and has a favorable matchup against a Denver team ranked 25th in defense against point guards.

Anthony Edwards DK $9,900 – FD $9,400

Anthony Edwards (SG-MIN) – As the Minnesota team may be short-handed, Edwards is expected to take on even more responsibility in carrying the team. He has a 32% usage rate with Karl-Anthony Towns off the floor and has been providing 1.3 DKFP per minute.

Edwards has at least 46 DKFP in 11 of his last 13 games, generating a 49-point average in that span. This is not far off from his 44-point average for the year. Denver’s 18th-ranked defense may not pose much of a threat, as Edwards has averaged over 43 fantasy points per game in their two matchups this season.

With a high minutes per game (36.7) and a high usage rate (29.2%), Edwards is a key player to consider for your lineup.
