NBA DFS Top Plays for Sunday 2/26/23

Damian Lillard DK $11,400 – FD $10,500

Damian Lillard is primed for an exciting matchup against the Rockets, making him a top pick for Sunday’s NBA DFS slate. Lillard only needs 57 DK points to reach 5x value, and he’s been able to achieve that or more in his last four games, with a minimum of 33 real-life points in each of those games. He’s a steal on FanDuel as well, coming in at a slightly lower price point. The Rockets have one of the weakest defenses in the league, with the second-worst defensive rating in the NBA and the most fantasy points allowed per game to opposing point guards.

Lillard sat out the team’s last game, but he’s expected to play and carry a heavy work load on Sunday after a week off. Going up against Houston’s 28th ranked Defensive Efficiency Rating shouldn’t be much of a challenge for the dynamic guard. Lillard has been on a hot streak lately, scoring at least 41 DraftKings points in 19 of his last 20 games, with an average of 55 points in that stretch. He’s been carrying the Trail Blazers without Jusuf Nurkic, and with Anfernee Simons out, his usage could skyrocket even further.

Houston is Lillard’s ideal opponent, as they’ve allowed the most fantasy points to opposing point guards, which has led to Lillard scoring at least 46 fantasy points in seven of their last eight meetings. With Nurkic and Simons out, Lillard will be the Trail Blazers’ primary offensive weapon. He’s been averaging 31.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists on the season, making him an attractive option for DFS players. Against a Houston team missing their starting backcourt and giving up the most three-pointers per game in the league, Lillard has an excellent chance to put up some big numbers on Sunday.

Anthony Edwards DK $9,500 – FD $9,400

While Edwards’ price tag has been increasing, it’s been well-deserved thanks to his recent play. Since D’Angelo Russell was traded away, Minnesota has been handing Edwards the offense on a plate, giving him more ball-handling duties and a skyrocketing usage rate since Karl-Anthony Towns’ injury. He’s scored at least 32 fantasy points in 46 of his last 48 games, with an average of 45 points in that span. Against Golden State, who rank 27th in points allowed and post a 25th OPRK against opposing SGs, Edwards should have no problem reaching that average. In their last five matchups since the start of last season, Edwards has averaged 44 DK points per game.

Edwards has been scoring big points lately, notching at least 50 DK points in three of his last five games, with a high of 55.3. He’s also been averaging 28.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. With the Warriors shorthanded and giving up the most free throws and fourth-most points per game in the league, Edwards is poised to excel in this game.

Domantas Sabonis DK $9,900 – FD $9,600

Domantas Sabonis will be facing the Thunder, and it’s a great opportunity to take advantage of their weak frontcourt. Although he doesn’t always have explosive performances, the Thunder’s defensive vulnerabilities in the paint and on the defensive boards should give him ample chances to shine. The Thunder also play at a fast pace, which will allow Sabonis to rack up the numbers.

Sabonis has been excellent this season, with the Kings putting him at the center of their offense. He’s averaging nearly 50 DraftKings points per game, and his recent form has been particularly impressive, with at least 42 fantasy points in 34 of his last 37 games. Sabonis is also flirting with triple-double averages, and he has a good chance of getting another one against the Thunder.

In his last four matchups against the Thunder, Sabonis is averaging over 55 DK points per game and has accrued triple-double averages. The Thunder are weak against opposing centers, with a 23rd OPRK, so Sabonis has a good opportunity to take advantage of this.

Sabonis has recorded five consecutive double-doubles, including one triple-double and a high of 63.5 DK points, with an average of 20.4 points, 13.6 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. He should continue to fill the stat sheet against the Thunder, who give up the most rebounds per game in the league.

Nikola Jokic DK $11,800 – FD $11,600

Nikola Jokic had a disappointing night in his last game, putting up only 35.75 DK points in a “smash spot” against a Grizzlies team missing one of their key interior defenders in Steven Adams. However, it’s hard to ignore the reigning back-to-back MVP’s potential, especially with all the value available on the board. The Clippers have allowed the 10th-most fantasy points per game to opposing centers this year. Despite both teams playing at a slower pace, this game has a respectable 233-point implied total, making it an ideal target.

Although Jokic has had two subpar games against the Clippers this year, I expect him to bounce back with a dominant performance against an overmatched frontcourt at home. At $11,600 on FanDuel and $11,800 on DraftKings, he’s an expensive play, but well worth the investment given his potential.
