NBA DFS Top Value Plays for Thursday 02/02/23

Jordan Poole DK $6,500 – FD $7,000

Jordan Poole is expected to play a key role if Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson are rested in the second half of this back-to-back set. With the starters likely to sit, Poole should see an increase in playing time and shot attempts, taking on primary ball-handling duties. He has averaged over 40 DraftKings points per game in similar circumstances and is a top value play to consider.

Poole is known to be shooting-dependent, but he has shown a boost in usage with the other starters off the floor. He recently put up 40+ fantasy points the last time they all sat and provides 1.13 DraftKings/1.07 FanDuel points per minute in these matchups. If the starters do sit, Poole is a must-have in all formats.

However, if Stephen Curry plays, it’s best to look for alternative options. Ty Jerome is another option to consider for salary savings as he could see a spot start. He has shown flashes of brilliance with two double-digit fantasy performances this season, including a season-high 40.25 DK points against a tough Cleveland squad. With a minimum price tag, he makes it easier to fit in Luka and another superstar in your lineup.

PJ Washington DK $6,100 – FD $6,100

Washington is a versatile big man who has proven to be a valuable player in NBA DFS. With at least 20 games of 32 or more fantasy points, Washington has shown a high ceiling of 60 fantasy points, especially with Miles Bridges out. In his next game against Chicago, he is expected to maintain his recent average of nearly 30 fantasy points per game, given the fourth-most fantasy points given up by the Bulls to opposing power forwards.

Recently, Washington has been in good form, with a pair of contests averaging 37.8 FD points, following a brief three-game slump of single-digit scoring. The Bulls are an attractive matchup for Washington, as they surrender the second-highest offensive efficiency rating and the fifth-most FanDuel points to the power forward position. Additionally, the Bulls give up 36.5% three-point shooting to PFs, while Washington has drained 40.7% of his three-point attempts in the last 20 games.

With Kelly Oubre out, there is a lot of production up for grabs in Charlotte. Washington has been taking advantage of this, putting up big games against Miami and Milwaukee. These were not in blowout scenarios, as the Hornets beat Miami by five and lost to the Bucks by nine. In those two games, Washington played 74 minutes in total. While it is difficult for Washington to sustain this kind of production, at his current price, he offers good value for DFS players.

Donte DiVincenzo DK $5,200 – FD $5,300

With the potential absence of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, DiVincenzo is expected to see an increase in minutes and responsibilities on the offensive end. In the 22 games where he has played at least 25 minutes, he has averaged close to 30 fantasy points per game, which could pose a problem for Denver’s defense, ranked seventh in most fantasy points allowed to opposing guards.

DiVincenzo has been a reliable player in these scenarios, coming off one of his best games of the season with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists for 38 fantasy points the last time the Warriors’ starters sat. He has exceeded 30 fantasy points in 5 of his last 7 starts for the team and played at least 30 minutes in each game. With Luka Doncic as a popular pick on the slate, DiVincenzo is a strong option at the SF position, making him a play in all formats

Rui Hachimura DK $5,100 – FD $5,200

Hachimura has been stepping up lately, playing a key role in the Lakers’ rotation, including a 41-minute outing in their recent game. Despite the presence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Hachimura put up 33.25 DraftKings fantasy points, thanks to 12 shot attempts, 9 rebounds, and strong play.

This Thursday, the Lakers face the Pacers, who play at a fast pace (5th-fastest in the last 10 games) and have a struggling defense (27th in defensive rating). Indiana also boasts a league-leading 21.27% boost to the FPPM of opposing power forwards, making Hachimura a solid option at $5,100.

More Warriors Value

Jonathan Kuminga DK  $3,700 – FD $3,700

With the expected rest of key Warriors players, including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, Kuminga is expected to see an increased role on the court. This season, the young talent is averaging 8.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game and has shown flashes of his potential with four performances of over 20 DraftKings points in his last six games. Kuminga is a solid option for fantasy managers looking for a budget-friendly player in the guard/forward positions.

Kevon Looney DK $5,000 – FD $4,600

Another Warrior to consider with the expected lineup changes is Looney. Despite being listed as a center, Looney has the versatility to play both the power forward and center positions. In a recent game where several key starters were absent, Looney started and put up 26 fantasy points before fouling out. In another game with a similar lineup, he played 32 minutes and recorded 17 rebounds en route to nearly 40 fantasy points. While the Denver defense is not to be underestimated, Looney’s low price tag and potential production make him a valuable addition to any fantasy lineup in all formats.
