NBA Top Plays on Draftkings and Fanduel for Thursday 1/12/23
Welcome to my NBA DFS Top Plays article for DraftKings and FanDuel! Thursday’s NBA schedule is packed with action as six games will take place, including a highly-anticipated matchup between the Bucks and Heat. Unfortunately, the Heat will be without key players Tyler Herro and Kyle Lowry due to injury. Additionally, the Bucks will be playing the second game of a back-to-back set, so it’s important to keep an eye on their injury report for possible rest candidates.
Another exciting game to watch will be the showdown between superstars LeBron James and the Lakers and Luka Doncic and the Mavericks in Los Angeles. In this article, I’ll be discussing some players to target for your DraftKings and FanDuel lineups and a few to avoid. Let’s get started!

Pascal Siakam: $10,300 DraftKings, $9,600 FanDuel
Pascal Siakam, who is priced at $10,300 on DraftKings and $9,600 on FanDuel, is a strong choice for your DFS lineups as he is facing the Hornets, who have the worst defense against opposing centers in the NBA.
Siakam is having a breakout season, averaging 47 fantasy points per game, and is currently the go-to player for the Raptors. Siakam had a strong performance against the Hornets in their previous game, scoring 28 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The Hornets have a fast-paced game style and poor defense, which makes this matchup a favorable one for Siakam as they give up a lot of points and rebounds to centers.
Luka Doncic: $12,800 DraftKings, $12,200 FanDuel
Luka Doncic, priced at $12,800 on DraftKings and $12,200 on FanDuel, is always worth consideration when you are constructing your lineups. He is averaging an impressive 64 DraftKings points per game and is considered a front-runner for MVP.
He has been very consistent throughout the season and is currently on a hot streak averaging 73 DraftKings points per game in his last seven outings. His matchup against the Lakers, who have a poor defense and give up the league’s highest average of 27.2 points per game to point guards, is a juicy one tonight. Doncic has the highest potential point total among all players on the slate and although his salary is high, I believe he’s worth it.

Joel Embiid: $11,000 DraftKings, $11,500 FanDuel
Joel Embiid, whose DraftKings and FanDuel salary is $11,000 and $11,500 respectively, will be a high priority for my DFS lineups tonight. It will be tough to fit him and Luka together so we’ll most likely have to pick one or the other. He’s been on fire recently averaging 62 DraftKings points in his last 21 games and he has scored at least 53 points in 18 of those games.
He will be facing the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have a poor defense and give up the fifth-most fantasy points in the NBA. He has been averaging 34.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 1.3 steals in 10 appearances, and has a great chance to excel against the Thunder, who give up the most rebounds and seventh-most points in the paint per game.
Donovan Mitchell: $9,900 DraftKings, $9,400 FanDuel
Donovan Mitchell, priced at $9,900 on DraftKings and $9,400 on FanDuel, is a strong upper mid tier salary option tonight. He has one of the highest ceiling projection among shooting guards on DraftKings, and the fifth-highest on FanDuel.
Recently, Mitchell has been showing off his potential, scoring 71 points and 102.5 DraftKings points in his last game against the Bulls, and following that up with a strong 46-point performance in his return to Utah on Tuesday. He has exceeded 44 DraftKings points in four of his last six games while averaging 33.7 points, 6.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds. He also has the second-highest usage projection among all shooting guards on DraftKings, and is likely to put up a high score against the Trail Blazers if he continues to shoot the ball effectively.

Max Strus: $5,300 DraftKings, $5,500 FanDuel
Max Strus, priced at $5,300 on DraftKings and $5,500 on FanDuel, is an excellent value pick tonight as he is expected to play a significant role due to multiple injuries on the Miami Heat’s roster. In the last game, he had a strong performance, taking 19 shots in 42 minutes and finishing the game with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.
He is currently very underpriced for the amount of playing time and shots he is projected to get tonight. Despite the challenging matchup against the Bucks, he has a good chance to provide good value for his price, particularly with the absence of key players Kyle Lowry, Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, and Duncan Robinson. It’s worth considering stacking him with Gabe Vincent if you can stomach even more Heat value.
Thomas Bryant: $6,900 DraftKings, $7,100 FanDuel
Thomas Bryant has been performing well with increased playing time due to the absence of Anthony Davis recently. He has been averaging 33 DraftKings points per game across 29 minutes a night over his last 14 outings.
He is a great value for his price tonight, and I’m not too concerned about him facing a tough Dallas frontcourt. Bryant has been in great form recently, recording double-doubles in three consecutive games and five of his last six games. He is averaging over 40 fantasy points per game during that stretch and even averaging just under 35 fantasy points per game since Anthony Davis’ absence. He is near the top of my shortlist of centers on this slate and worth considering in all formats.

Gabe Vincent: $4,000 DraftKings, $4,100 FanDuel
Gabe Vincent is near min price and solid value pick tonight as he is expected to take on a bigger role for the Miami Heat due to the absence of Tyler Herro and Kyle Lowry.
Despite limited playing time this season, Vincent has shown that he can perform well when given the opportunity. Despite struggles with his shot and turnovers in his last game, he still managed to produce 19.8 FanDuel points and 23 DraftKings points with 13 points, four assists, four rebounds, and a steal. This is a tough matchup against the Bucks, but Vincent has the potential to perform well and return solid value with a heavy workload.
OG Anunoby: $6,600 DraftKings, $6,900 FanDuel
OG Anunoby is still too cheap, as his price remains below $7,000 despite his consistent performance. He has been scoring at least 31 DraftKings points in seven consecutive games and is one of the league leaders in playing time. His workload is guaranteed to be heavy, making him a safe bet to play 40 minutes, and that sort of workload is impossible to overlook from such an affordable player.
Additionally, he has a good matchup tonight against the third-worst defense in the NBA, the Hornets, as he has scored at least 30 DraftKings points in eight consecutive meetings against them. OG has become one of the most consistent options in NBA DFS and is a valuable pick in any format.
