Why the New Orleans Saints are a top value stack in 2022 Underdog Fantasy Best Ball

new orleans saints

The New Orleans Saints come in as one of the cheaper teams to stack in 2022 Underdog Best Ball contests. What is their outlook for the 2022 NFL season?

Let’s take a look!

New Orleans Saints Stack

Let’s focus on the main pieces of the New Orleans Saints’ stack: Jameis Winston, Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry, Chris Olave, and Taysom Hill.

Jameis Winston is back from an ACL tear and will be QB1 for the Saints this year. He is available as QB19 with high upside weapons surrounding him. Winston averaged 17.2 fantasy points per game last season. If he can get to around a 20-point average this season, he will smash his ADP.

Alvin Kamara won’t be suspended until the 2023 season and looks to be fully healthy headed into 2022. He has RB1 upside and you can still get him in the 2nd round! He did see a decrease in targets last season but, he could see more work with more weapons on the offense.

Michael Thomas looks to be 100% healthy after missing the 2021 season with an ankle injury. It’s hard to know how close to his former self he will be until the regular season but, he’s in an ADP range with Darnell Mooney and Amon-Ra St. Brown. If the Saints’ offense succeeds, Thomas should easily outscore those two. Should we expect 2019 production? No, but he should see 100+ targets assuming he is healthy.

Jarvis Landry is a new addition to this offense via free agency. At an ADP of 152.5, Landry is in a group of wide receivers with Nico Collins, K.J. Hamler, and Robbie Anderson at this range. Landry is coming off a down season but, gets a quarterback upgrade in Jameis Winston and a more receiver-friendly offensive system in New Orleans. We should see Landry work the slot in this offense and be a dependable high-floor option at this ADP.

Chris Olave is a rookie drafted 11th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. He is the best deep-threat receiver in the offense and we know Jameis likes to take his deep shots from his time in Tampa Bay. In 2019, Jameis attempted 113 deep balls and we should see those deep shots worked into the offense with the improvements at receiver. There has been a positive buzz in training camp about Olave’s route running skills and speed. He has plenty of upside at his ADP of 87.8.

Taysom Hill is a late-round flier at his ADP of 191.4 and I expect him to stay in the swiss army knife role he has been in throughout his career. I don’t expect him to get consistent targets in this offense but, he always has the upside to steal a touchdown here or there. I’d definitely prioritize the other options over Hill.

The Saints have a high ceiling and should return to form as a top 10 offense in 2022! If you’re looking to stack their Week 17 matchup, they face the Philadelphia Eagles.
