Travis Kelce is one of the most consistent and reliable fantasy football players in the NFL. This is not without good reason as he has received 152 targets in 2022 and has tallied at least 1,000 receiving yards in 7 straight seasons. We should see another season of Kelce getting a market share over 20%!
In addition to his high target volume, Kelce benefits from playing with an elite quarterback in Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes threw for 41 touchdowns in 2022 and will continue to look for Kelce as his primary receiving option. While the Chiefs have added other receiving options in Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, and Richie James, Kelce is still the clear top option in the offense.
With the Chiefs attempting 651 passes in 2022, Kelce’s target share is expected to remain high in 2023. Fantasy managers can rely on Kelce to be a consistent contributor each week, as he provides a high floor with his consistent volume of targets. Additionally, Kelce has shown the ability to have explosive games, making him a threat for big plays and touchdowns
In best ball formats, Kelce is an especially valuable asset as he can put up big weeks at any time. He is a consistent performer who can anchor a team’s receiving corps, allowing managers to focus on other positions in the draft. With his track record of success and his continued high usage in the Chiefs’ offense, Kelce is a player that fantasy managers can trust in best ball formats.
However, it’s important to note that Kelce will turn 34 years old during the 2023 NFL season. While he has shown no signs of slowing down, age is always a factor to consider when drafting players in fantasy football. Additionally, Kelce’s high ADP means that managers will need to spend an early-round pick on him, potentially passing on other valuable players at other positions.
Kelce seems to be in a tremendous position to be the TE1 this season with a massive target share. Regression is certainly a factor at 34 years old but, Kelce has not given us a reason to think he is slowing down any time soon!
