NFL Best Ball Spotlight: Can Trevor Lawrence be a Top 5 QB in 2023?

NFL Best Ball Spotlight Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence has a lot of hype in NFL Best Ball with a current ADP of 58.5. Is there an avenue for Lawrence to be a top 5 Quarterback in 2023?

Let’s take a look!

Trevor Lawrence in NFL Best Ball

Trevor Lawrence had a solid sophomore campaign for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2022, throwing for over 4,000 yards and totaling 30 touchdowns through the air and on the ground. Currently going in the late fourth or early fifth rounds of NFL Best Ball drafts, he is an attractive option for fantasy managers who are looking for a high-upside quarterback.

One of the key factors in Lawrence’s fantasy potential is the number of pass attempts he had in 2022, which totaled 584. This high volume of pass attempts gives Lawrence plenty of opportunities to rack up passing yards, touchdowns, and fantasy points. Additionally, his impressive touchdown percentage of 4.3% through the air indicates that he has the ability to score through the air at a solid rate.

In addition to his passing production, Lawrence’s ability as a rusher gives him an added dimension for fantasy purposes. In 2022, he attempted 62 rushes and scored 5 touchdowns on the ground, demonstrating his ability to make an impact in the run game as well. This dual-threat ability increases his value in best ball formats, where managers are looking for upside in large field tournaments.

Another advantage to drafting Lawrence is the potential stacking options available to him. Fantasy managers who draft Lawrence can pair him with talented pass catchers such as Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, Evan Engram, and Travis Etienne. This allows managers to double up on fantasy points whenever Lawrence throws a touchdown to one of his receivers or running backs.

Overall, Trevor Lawrence’s high volume of pass attempts, solid touchdown percentage, and rushing ability make him an attractive option for fantasy managers in best ball formats. With talented stacking options available to him, Lawrence absolutely has the ability to be a top 5 Quarterback in 2023. We could even see Lawrence get into the top 3 range if he continues to develop in his second year in the Doug Pederson system!

Jacksonville stacks are a hot commodity and for good reason! There will be a high volume of pass attempts, rushing upside from Lawrence Etienne or Tank Bigsby, and a pretty soft division schedule in the AFC South. If we see Jacksonville improve from 23.9 points per game in 2022 to the 26-28 point per game mark in 2023, Jaguars stacks could be a tournament winner!
