NFL DFS DraftKings and FanDuel Studs for Week 2

The first week of NFL DFS is in the books and I’ll admit it could’ve been a lot better. I used eight quarterbacks last week including Aaron Rodgers and Ryan Tannehill. I think I had solid lineup constructions but I limited my player pool a little too much for this early in the season. You live and you learn. I’ll break down where I went wrong (and occasionally right) last week before jumping into the DraftKings and FanDuel studs for Week 2.

NFL DFS DraftKings Studs for Cash Games Week 1 Results

Josh Allen – QB – Buffalo Bills – $7.4k

Allen finished with 18.2 DraftKings points and a 2.5 value rating. He was the 23rd best QB on the slate. That’s not going to get it done in cash or tournaments at his salary.

Dalvin Cook – RB – Minnesota Vikings – $9.1k

Cook finished as the 8th best running back on the slate with 21.4 DK points and a 2.4  value rating. Dalvin finished 6.6 DK points behind the week’s leader Joe Mixon (28 DK points)

Josh Allen – QB – Buffalo Bills – $8.1k

I ran with Allen in this spot on FanDuel as well so it was a bad call on both sites. Allen finished the week as the 16th quarterback with 17.2 FanDuel points and a 2.1 value rating.

Davante Adams – WR – Green Bay Packers – $8.6k

Adams scored 8.1 FD points and had a 0.9 value rating. He finished the week as the 46th best receiver on the slate. It’s gonna be really hard for Adams to put up huge numbers if Aaron Rodgers is only gonna score 3.32 FD points in a given week.

NFL DFS DraftKings Studs for Tournaments Week 1 Results

Patrick Mahomes – QB – Kansas City Chiefs – $8.1k

Mahomes led all quarterbacks in DraftKings points with 36.28. He had a 4.5 value rating. It’s crazy that this guy has turned this type of game into no big deal.

Calvin Ridley – WR – Atlanta Falcons – $7.9k

Ridley finished as the 59th overall wide receiver on the slate with 10.1 DK points and a 1.3 value rating. Calvin and the Falcons (Kinda sounds like a 1950s Doo-Wop group) were locked down by the Eagles defense. I didn’t see that coming and totally blew this selection.

Ryan Tannehill – QB – Tennessee Titans – $7.7k

Tannehill finished the week as the 19th quarterback on the slate. Ryan scored 15.18 FD points and had a 2 value rating. A dismal performance and one of the big shocks from the weekend.

Christian McCaffrey – RB – Carolina Panthers – $10.4k

McCaffrey led all running backs with 23.2 FD points. He had a 2.2 value rating so he was a better tournament play than cash game play.

NFL DFS DraftKings Studs for Cash Games for Week 2

Tom Brady – QB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – $6.9k

It’s possible the Atlanta Falcons were looking past the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 to their Week 2 matchup with the Bucs. If so, they should play better but if a second year QB like Jalen Hurts can shred the Atlanta defense then Tom Brady on 10 days rest should have a field day. Brady has the highest value rating on the slate at the QB position and should have a great Sunday.

Chase Edmonds – RB – Arizona Cardinals – $4.9k

Edmonds is going to be a lock in cash games with that salary. We’re projecting him for 14 touches in a game with a 51 point implied total. It could be a huge week for Mr. Edmonds.

Justin Herbert– QB – Los Angeles Chargers – $7.6k

Herbert and the Chargers draw the well-rested Dallas Cowboys this week. I don’t think Dallas having 10 days off makes that much of a difference for Herbert. If the Chargers win, it’s likely Herbert had a lot to do with that. If the Chargers are trailing then Justin will have to chuck the ball to catch up. He’s tied for 1st in value rating with Josh Allen in the Team Rise or Fall NFL DFS Study Hub for FanDuel. Throw in a 55 point implied game total and Herbert becomes my favorite quarterback on the slate.

Darren Waller – TE – Las Vegas Raiders – $7k

Last week our NFL DFS Study projected Darren Waller for 9.5 targets. We were about 100 short as Derek Carr dropped back and looked for Waller over and over and over on Monday night. I don’t see anyway he’s targeted as much this week, but that will still mean a lot of work for Waller.

NFL DFS DraftKings Studs for Tournaments for Week 2

Kyler Murray – QB – Arizona Cardinals – $8.2k

Murray is the highest projected quarterback in our NFL DFS Study Hub. He’s a dual threat QB with video game with the sliders turned all the way down athletic ability that’s playing in a game with a 51 point implied total. If the Cardinals score four touchdowns I can see Murray having a hand in at least three of them.

Amari Cooper – WR – Dallas Cowboys – $6.8k

Amari Cooper is 10th in salary, 12th in rating, 7th in projection, and 14th in value at the wide receiver position this week. He’s in a high-powered offense that can’t muster a run game. He should see plenty of targets and pay off his salary.

NFL DFS FanDuel Studs for Tournaments for Week 2

Russell Wilson – QB – Seattle Seahawks – $8.5k

We saw last season that the Seahawks offense let Russ cook early in the season and I’m banking on that happening again. Wilson showed he can still drop deep dimes last week. Our NFL Study Hub for FanDuel projects him as the 4th best QB on the week. Stack him with a teammate or two and enjoy the meal!

Alvin Kamara – RB – New Orleans Saints – $8.8k

Last week the Saints offense allowed Jameis Winston to be the star with five passing touchdowns. I think this week we’ll see them get back to the Saints football we’re accustomed to seeing the last few years by feeding Kamara. Our NFL DFS Study Hub is projecting him for 19 touches. Those are the opportunities we’re looking for from a stud running back.

Alright folks that’s it for Week 2! Hit me up on Twitter if you want to talk some DFS. Good luck to everyone!
