Welcome to the Week 6 edition of the NFL DFS DraftKings and FanDuel Studs. I give a breakdown of last week’s results before diving into Week 6. I did well on DraftKings and choked on FanDuel. I did embarrassingly bad on FD and I’m not quite sure why. I mean, I know why. I didn’t make the right plays. But why did I end up so far off when I was pretty spot on for DK? I have to work on that for this weekend. Let’s get to it!
Dak Prescott – QB – Dallas Cowboys – $6.9k
Prescott finished the week as the 6th highest scoring quarterback on DraftKings with 25.68 fantasy points. Justin Herbert (45.82 DK points) and Tom Brady (40.74 DK points) were the standouts on the slate and the only quarterbacks to score more than 28 fantasy points. An overall solid performance for Dak that didn’t sink your lineups from the top.
James Robinson – RB – Jacksonville Jaguars – $6k
Robinson finished as the 10th overall running back for Week 5 with 24.7 DK points. That works out to a little over 4x value so it’s a good play for cash games despite four backs scoring more than 30 fantasy points.
Kirk Cousins – QB – Minnesota Vikings – $7.5k
Cousins finished as the 15th overall QB for Week 5 with 14.4 FanDuel points. An absolute bust play by your boy Eags on this one. I will say that I was down on Cousins by lock and I thought the Under was the play for the game total. Still though, I wrote what I wrote.
Alvin Kamara – RB – New Orleans Saints – $8.6k
Kamara finished as the 4th highest scoring running back on FanDuel with 26.7 fantasy points. That’s a little over 3x value and I’ll take it. Especially after the Cousins call.
Joe Burrow – QB – Cincinnati Bengals – $6.1k
Burrow ended the week as the 10th overall quarterback on the slate with a score of 20.34 DK points. I was obviously expecting more scoring in this game, but instead we got a kick-off littered with wide lefts and doinks. I have to rate this as a bust play. On to next week..
Amari Cooper – WR – Dallas Cowboys – $6.1k
Speaking of bust plays. I really blew it here with Cooper who finished the week as the 19th overall wide receiver. He scored 15 DK points which left him behind guys like Chris Conley and Tim Patrick.
Kyler Murray – QB – Arizona Cardinals – $8.5k
This was my worst call of the weekend. Murray finished as the 17th overall quarterback on the slate with 13.66 FD points. There are trends that show the first matchup between division rivals is much higher scoring than the second matchup. I did have that in mind with this selection. What I didn’t think about was this was the second division game in a row for the Cardinals after playing the Los Angeles Rams the week before. At least it was a tournament play where we want to either boom or bust. Nailed it!
Davante Adams – WR – Green Bay Packers – $8.2k
Davante Adams carried 25%-35% in ownership in most contests. He finished the week as the second highest scoring wide receiver on the slate with 32.1 FD points. He fell .41 fantasy points behind Mike Williams. Props to me for going with a player that you didn’t need me to tell you to roster. At the same time, that’s how strong of a play Adams was. Get outta here with ownership and all that. Play a stud in a smash spot and reap the benefits.
Taylor Heinicke – QB – Washington Football Team – $5.8k
Heinicke is the 2nd highest valued quarterback in the Team Rise or Fall NFL DFS Study Hub for DraftKings. Taylor and the Team take on the Kansas City Chiefs at home in a game with an implied total of 55.5. I can see him hitting 4x+ value in a shootout with a defense that ranks 26th against the QB position.
Johnathan Taylor – RB – Indianapolis Colts – $6.6k
Taylor rates as the 2nd highest value at the running back position in our NFL DFS Study Hub. He’s facing a Houston team that comes into Week 6 with the 29th ranked defense against the running back position. I’m looking for Taylor to eat plenty in a high scoring effort for the Colts.
Carson Wentz – QB – Indianapolis Colts – $6.7k
Wentz is the 3rd highest value in our NFL DFS Study Hub for FanDuel. He and the Colts take on a Houston Texans team that ranks 31st against the quarterback position. Carson didn’t look great to start the season but he’s playing better recently. If he can’t light up a bad Texans defense then it’s officially time to fade Wentz for good.
Darrel Williams – RB – Kansas City Chiefs – $5.2k
Williams is the 3rd highest value at the running back position in our NFL DFS Study Hub for FanDuel. I’ll admit this is a bit of a cash game risk just because the Chiefs could go heavy passing and blow Williams out of the game plan. If he can get 12+ touches and a touchdown then he’ll pay off. I’m liking the chances of this happening.
Joe Burrow – QB – Cincinnati Bengals – $6.3k
Burrow didn’t get their for us last week but I’m hopping right back on the bandwagon. Yes, we need to monitor the injury news because it seems like it would be hard to quarterback an NFL game, let alone on the road, if you can’t speak. If Joe’s good to go I’m expecting the numbers that I was expecting last week.
Terry McLaurin – WR – Washington Football Team – $7.1k
McLaurin is the 3rd highest rated receiver in our NFL DFS Study Hub for DK. The Chiefs are ranked 11th against the receiver position, but as the main target for a team projected for 24.5 points, McLaurin should get busy.
Patrick Mahomes – QB – Kansas City Chiefs – $9k
The Chiefs offense looks a little off this season as does the Washington Football Team’s defense. Patrick Mahomes on the road is usually a solid play and I see no reason for this to change this week at Washington.
Cooper Kupp – WR – Los Angeles Rams – $8.2k
Kupp is the 3rd highest rated receiver in our FanDuel NFL DFS Study Hub. We’re also projecting him to be the 3rd highest scoring receiver on the slate. Robert Woods got fed in their last game and Kupp still had 13 targets. That amount of opportunities will lead to a big day for a top tier receiver.
Alright folks that’s it for Week 6! Hit me up on Twitter if you want to talk some DFS. Good luck to everyone!
