NFL DFS DraftKings and FanDuel Studs

Share

The return of the NFL season means the return of the grind for those that love NFL DFS. I’ll be dropping a few stud plays for DraftKings and FanDuel cash games and tournaments.

If you’re like me, you like playing a lot of different DFS sports. Basketball is my favorite overall sport, MLB and MMA are my best DFS sports, but there’s something about fantasy football (Daily fantasy in particular) that’s different. What other sport gives you the kid on Christmas Eve feeling again? I’m sure stans of other sports will say that’s how they feel for the opening of their favorite game and maybe they do. They’re lucky then because they get the feeling twice a year. Let’s get to some football!

NFL DFS DraftKings Studs for Cash Games

Josh Allen – QB – Buffalo Bills – $7.4k

Josh is the top rated quarterback and grades out as the 4th best value at the position in the Team Rise or Fall NFL DFS Study Hub for DraftKings. Allen is the 3rd most expensive quarterback on the slate behind Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray, which kind of seems like a bargain to me.

My expectation for Josh Allen this season is sky high. He made a huge leap in the covid-wrecked 2020 season, and now he’s had more semi-normal time to really bond with Stefon Diggs. That duo along with Allen’s scrambling/rushing abilities should lead to some great fantasy performances throughout the season.

Dalvin Cook – RB – Minnesota Vikings – $9.1k

Cook rates as the 7th best value on the slate at the running back position in our NFL DFS Study Hub. You might wonder why I’m taking the 7th best value. I like his matchup and usage the most out of the top running back options.

The Vikings are currently -3.5 road favorites at Cincy. If the game follows the script I can see the Vikes and Cook using ball control to end the game. Minnesota is projected for 25 points as a team and I have to believe Cook will be a big part of the scoring.

NFL DFS FanDuel Studs for Cash Games

Josh Allen – QB – Buffalo Bills – $8.1k

There’s not a lot that I can add to Josh Allen that I didn’t already say above. Some weeks the guy is just the guy. Allen rates as the the top value in our NFL DFS Study Hub for FanDuel. He’s also our highest projected quarterback on the slate making it really easy to click his name at the QB position.

Davante Adams – WR – Green Bay Packers – $8.6k

Adams kicks off the 2021 season as the highest value wide receiver in Week 1 in our NFL DFS Study Hub. I need you to close your eyes and flashback all the way to last season and picture a healthy Davante Adams. You got the image?

Ok then it’s a no-brainer until shown otherwise that Adams is on your list every week. Maybe his price reaches a point that makes him less valuable but when he’s healthy he produces. We’re projecting him for 9.5 targets and that should be more than enough for him to eat.

NFL DFS DraftKings Studs for Tournaments

Patrick Mahomes – QB – Kansas City Chiefs – $8.1k

You didn’t really think I was going to go an entire NFL DFS article and not mention Patrick Mahomes, did you? I think it’s a law or at least a mandate that he’s mentioned at least once in NFL DFS articles for the foreseeable future.

Mahomes is the 2nd highest projected quarterback in our NFL DFS Study Hub for DraftKings. He has an assortment of weapons for you to choose from when you’re building your stacks. The only question becomes how many teammates or opponents do you stack him with this weekend?

Calvin Ridley – WR – Atlanta Falcons – $7.9k

Julio Jones took his talents elsewhere leaving Calvin Ridley as the top receiving threat in the ATL. Our NFL DFS Study Hub for DraftKings projects Ridley for 11.8 targets and 7.9% ownership. He draws a matchup against an allegedly revamped Philadelphia Eagles secondary. They might be improved but those 11.8 targets should allow for some solid production.

NFL DFS FanDuel Studs for Tournaments

Ryan Tannehill – QB – Tennessee Titans – $7.7k

Tannehill is the 7th highest projected quarterback in our NFL DFS Study Hub for FanDuel. What I love about Ryan this week is that he’s at home against a team going West to East, in a game with an implied total of 52 points. A lot of focus will fall to Derrick Henry and the Titans power running game, but Tannehill can sling the ball and a shootout leads to more opportunities.

Christian McCaffrey – RB – Carolina Panthers – $10.4k

Our NFL DFS Study Hub for FanDuel projects McCaffrey for 24 total touches (Rushes + Receptions) on Sunday. Only Christian and Dalvin Cook crack the 24 total mark as both guys are threats running and catching the ball. The 45.5 game total isn’t the greatest although being the focal point of the offense means McCaffrey should get the attempts no matter what.

McCaffrey is coming off of an injury but I’m not worried about that for now. I’m expecting a nice season in a new offense and that McCaffrey will quickly become a safety target for Sam Darnold.
