Captain/MVP/SuperStar Plays

Patrick Mahomes, QB ($18, 300 (DK), $18,000 (FD), $39 (Yahoo))

Let’s get the year started with the favorite to do it all again in Patrick Mahomes. Coming off another great year that ended with another title, he starts the year with a great matchup against the Lions who ranked in the bottom half of the league against the pass. While Mahomes may be without Kelce for this game he still has plenty of options that he can turn to that he will make look like superstars in Toney, MVS, and company. 

Vegas is expecting a fast-paced shoot out with a total of 53.5 and a team total of 29.5 for the Chiefs. If you are playing cash games go ahead and lock in Mahomes and move on. For tournaments he may be chalky but very well could do it all for the Chiefs in this one.

Jahmyr Gibbs ($12,600 (DK), $11,000 (FD), $21 (Yahoo))

The highly touted rookie running back looks to get his career off on the right note and in a game environment that could see the Lions playing from behind that could mean more targets for the rookie who looks to be taking over that D’Andre Swift role in this Lions offense. 

If you are playing on FanDuel I do like David Montgomery at MVP as he should take over the Jamaal Williams role and grab all the short-yardage work.

Going to be targeting another Lions rookie here in LaPorta who the Lions took with the 34th pick in the draft. He is replacing Hockenson and should be a highly targeted TE this year as we know Goff loves his safety blankets. He is cheap on all sites and makes for a great play to round out lineups
