NFL DFS Week 3 Breakdown Bottom of the Barrel

Bottom of the Barrel Week 7 TE NFL DFS Breakdown

Dang, it. Sometimes life doesn’t break our way. We can be doing the best we possibly can and still get the crap end of the stick. I know most of you don’t care when Bottom of the Barrel is published. You’ll just say, “where is it?” Or “I’d like to read it!” For that I am thankful.

I am my own biggest critic. Sometimes illogically tough on myself. I have my father to thank for that. Which, don’t get me wrong, isn’t a bad thing. It has created several good characters defining building blocks.

I am sorry for the lateness of the article this week. I had folks tell me to shorten the blurbs. Or don’t mention so many players. No harm in their advice but this article is the most favorite thing I do in fantasy sports, across the board, without a doubt. Whether it’s a doubleheader Monday Night football thing that throws me off or a real-life work emergency this article will always be published.

Thank you for always reading this. It is my bread and butter. It is, in fact, my baby. To see it grow as it has made me very happy. Brings me joy and humility as well. Thank you! Week 3 Bottom of the Barrel coming at you!

Quarterbacks

Josh Allen BUF @ MIA(30th)(FD-$9,000)(DK-$8,200)(Y!-$38)

Guess what? Josh Allen is a stone-cold killer. I mean what more can we say about Josh? On Monday night, primetime, he hung 317 passing yards, and four touchdown passes. Geeze oh Pete!

As we look ahead to the quarterback position you will notice a few off-the-wall and outlandish QB’s in Bottom of the Barrel. Well, I never really count the exact number of players per position. We just follow the value and matchups here at B&B! With it being Week 3, and after two weeks of the season, anything is possible!

Tua Tagovailoa MIA vs. BUF(3rd)(FD-$7,300)(DK-$6,100)(Y!-$27)

What a week 2 this kid had! He, Waddle, and Hill are one heck of a trio! Now, we get an A+ match-up Sunday at 1p in Miami. Let’s see what Tua is made of. This Buffalo team is no joke!

Ryan Tannehill TEN vs. LV(27th)(FD-$7,200)(DK-$5,700)(Y!-$24)

Tanny only completed 11 passes on Monday night but let’s be honest, the Bills beat the crap out of them, and the Titans had no chance. Looking at this week 3 contest against the Raiders I can see a glimmer of hope for Tanny in this one. Last week Kyler and the Cardinals came from nowhere to hang 22 unanswered points and win in OT. As a professional football team, I’d like to think Tennessee is embarrassed, and not only will they pound the rock with Henry but make it point to get the ball to Woods and rookie Burks. I have Tanny around 230 yards with a pair of touchdown passes. I am in!

Derek Carr LV @ TEN(14th)(FD-$7,100)(DK-$5,900)(Y!-$29)

The Raiders are 0-2! Who saw that coming? This week they travel the Nashville to battle the Titans who are in desperate need of a pass rush. Will they? Won’t they? Meaning, will the Titans bring pressure and blitz Carr? I think there is a nice safe floor and potential for a high-ceiling game from Carr.

Trevor Lawrence JAX @ LAC(19th)(FD-$7,000)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$22)

I am a T-Law fan, and he is finally starting to come around. Now, bad news, Jags head to LA to take on the Chargers. Lawrence better keeps an eye on Derwin James. He is a monster. Slamming folks around and ball-hawking. To most folks, this match-up will limit the appeal to some DFSer, not me. His low ownership percentages have me all warm and fuzzy!

Justin Fields CHI vs. HOU(11th)(FD-$7,000)(DK-$5,600)(Y!-$24)

Justin was ineffective, throwing for only 70 yards and rushing for 20 yards including a TD on the ground in Week 2. So why bother with him this week? The Houston Texans, that is why! Denver beat them 16-9 last week but then we get into that is Denver better than Chicago and vice versa stuff. Anyway, you slice it, Justin needs a good game here. So, why not give him a chance?

Joe Flacco NYJ vs. CIN(9th)(FD-$6,800)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$23)

Joe Flacco has been awesome in relief of Wilson the first two weeks. The Bengals are 0-2! Who would’ve thought that? So, let the good times roll!

Mac Jones NE vs. BAL(32nd)(FD-$6,400)(DK-$5,100)(Y!-$20)

Mac Jones is just a guy. Don’t think it’s fair to call him a jag, just another guy, but he does bring a little excitement to the table. By little I mean the tiniest amount of excitement. The absolute only reason Mac is in the article this week is because of Baltimore’s meltdown last Sunday. Most would say, shake it off, put it behind you, and let’s get to work!” Fair enough but there will still be little seeds of doubts in the Ravens. Let’s see if Mac and the Pats can take advantage!

Desmond Ridder ATL @ SEA(19th)(FD-$6,100)(DK-$4,500)(Y!-$20)

Just wishful thinking. Marcus is the starting QB, but the Falcons are 0-2 and they aren’t going anywhere. Not saying scrap Marcus but toss in Ridder for a few series then we pair with London then we win a million dollars!

Running Backs

Jonathan Taylor IND vs. KC(19th)(FD-$9,400)(DK-$9,000)(Y!-$39)

Won’t waste your time here. JT is a stud. Keep it moving. The Jag’s run defense is in for one heck of an afternoon. They better pack a lunch! Yes, I copied and pasted what I wrote about JT last week. Do you blame me? Truth be told, might be a copy-and-paste job with JT every week! Come to find out the Jacksonville Jaguars were good in Week 2! Regardless, this match-up with KC is still juicy

Bottom of the Barrel has always been about those low-cost and low-owned players. As you scroll through the top end of these running backs you will notice several are more expensive than normal. Just speaks volumes about the state of the position. However, in my B&B notes, I could not stop writing players down. After I was done the amount of RBs mentioned seemed ridiculous. Be on the lookout for my Week 3 B&B notes. A lot of cutting room floor-type stuff.

Josh Jacobs LV @ TEN(31st)(FD-$6,500)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-18)

The volume Jacobs is about to see here has me licking my chops! I have him around 16-17 attempts 75-80 yards and a touchdown. Those are floor numbers too!

Jamaal Williams DET @ MIN(29th)(FD-$6,500)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$15)

Here we are! A Detroit Lions team tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for most points scored after two weeks. The Lions head to Minnesota hot to trot while Kirk and the boys are down on their luck after getting spanked by the Eagles. The Lions hung with the Eagles, 38-35, yet Minnesota lost 24-7, so in my mind, the Lions should win 28-21.

Damien Harris NE vs. BAL(11th)(FD-$6,400)(DK-$5,600)(Y!-$17)

It would seem as if we were picking on the Ravens here, wouldn’t it? Harris had 9 carries, 48 yards, 3 targets, 2 receptions, and 10 yards. Nothing crazy but last week the Ravens gave up so much yardage across the board to so many players in so many ways. Yes, I am going to run this one into the ground. Let’s stack up D. Harris and the Pats hoping to catch the Ravens slipping after last week.

Darrell Henderson Jr. LAR @ ARZ(17th)(FD-$6,300)(DK-$5,700)(Y!-$20)

D-Hendy once again with a fair amount of work. Ten carries in comparison to Akers 15. Hendy averaged 4.7 yards a pop though. Week in and week out it’s going to be the Kupp show I see a case here where folks may flock to Akers after his 15-carry day. While Hendy, slow and steady gets the job done.

Breece Hall NYJ vs. CIN(14th)(FD-$6,200)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$12)

Hall and Carter are going to be attached at the hip for the time being. However, with Flacco at QB, it looks as though he favors Hall! Evident in Hall’s 10-yard touchdown reception. The Bengals, as of now, are reeling! 0-2 and lack confidence. If the Bengals lose to the Jets then I do not know, the city of Cincinnati may fold! Given his tag take the risk.

Kenny Gainwell PHI @ WSH(28th)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$13)

Kenny is on the verge! The verge of being a good pass-catching back. Given the way the Eagles have played through two games, they look fantastic. We both know it’s the Hurts and AJB show but the head coaching staff has shown us they love using Miles and Kenny in unison. This week against a leaky Commander’s DST I project Kenny for a ton of work. Specifically, 5 or 6 carries, 3 or 4 receptions, and realistically 30ish yards but that yardage total, to me, is the baseline. One reception and Kenny could be gone!

Dameon Pierce HOU @ CHI(24th)(FD-$5,800)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$15)

Dameon accumulated 69 yards on 15 carries and caught his one target for eight yards. The story here is the fact it outworked Rex. No ill will against Rex but Dameon is about to be the Texans RB1 quick, like this week! Houston heads to Chicago and for some odd reason, I do believe he breaks out big time in Week 3.

J.D. McKissic WSH vs. PHI(32nd)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$5,300)(Y!-$15)

J.D. McKissic is the reason I love this article! Heck, in all seriousness I should dedicate the entire thing to him. He’s been the most mentioned player in this article for 3 years running! The Eagles are good but they struggle with pass-catching backs. Do not be shocked if we see J.D. carry the ball 5+ times and catch 5+ passes. He has been averaging 4.3 yards a carry and 7.4 yards a catch. Prioritize McKissic this week, no I am not kidding.

Kenny Walker III SEA v ATL(8th)(FD-$5,200)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$15)

Was good to see Kenny back in action last week. I won’t bore you with all the rookie hype stuff, but this kid has it. Also, it looked as though the Seahawks were just easing him back into action. I fully expect them to use him more and more as the weeks go by. In dynasty, formats aren’t the saying, “better to be earlier than late?” I don’t know about you but I would make room for Kenny in my lines starting in Week 3 and so on.

Rachaad White TB vs. GB(15th)(FD-$5,100)(DK-$4,200)(Y!-$10)

So, last I checked star Bucs wideout, Mike Evans, has been suspended for a game after that scrum with the Saints in Week 2. So naturally, we think, “who gets that work let on the table by Evans?” Brady has a slew of other WRs to target but we know Leo Fournette will get him for some odd reason I think White sees a few extra targets out of the backfield. If Tampa wants to make this kid their pass-catching extraordinaire back then it starts Sunday, in Week 3.

Nyheim Hines IND vs. KC(19th)(FD-$5,100)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$13)

Dammit! Who saw the Jags shutting out Indy last week? I will tell you! Me and the Rise or Fall member who won a million bucks by using them! Also, who in the heck thought the Colts would be 0-1-1? Geeze! Regardless, they still have the best running back in the game and Matt Ryan will settle in. On a good note, Hines saw 5 targets caught 4 of them, and racked up 37 yards. Meh, not much but it gives a DFS player hope for Week 3! Last week the Chargers RBs, mainly Ekeler saw 10 targets! You know what I am thinking here! Do not expect 10 targets for Hines but 5+ could be in the realm of possibility!

Eno Benjamin ARZ vs. LAR(3rd)(FD-$5,000)(DK-$4,700)(Y!-$12)

Eno, Eno, Eno can’t you see sometimes we want more targets to see! In Week 2 Eno carried the ball 8 times while Kyler tossed him 4 passes. The yardage was blah, 34 yards, but the work is starting to be ramped up. At his price tag this week, in what should be a competitive game, has me intrested@

Tyler Allgeier ATL @ SEA(32nd)(FD-$4,800)(DK-$4,400)(Y!-$11)

Dang, Tyler had 10 carries in Week 2! Only put up 30 yards but I love that the Falcons are starting to see what they have in this kid. In turn, we should too! That mixed with the Seahawk’s awful DvP against RB’s Allgeier could be that one lineup filler in Week 3 that gets us over the edge!

Zander Horvath LAC vs. JAX(15th)(FD-$4,600)(DK-$4,000)(Y!-$10)

What the heck? Thought this kid was a tight end? A fullback? Or even a wide receiver. Nope, listed as an RB for God’s sake! 2 targets, 1 reception, and a touchdown. Lovely odds, right? This article will always be fun and lighthearted so please take this for what it’s intended to be a joke. Well, unless he scores again, then I am the smartest man alive!

Wide Receivers

Cooper Kupp LAR @ ARZ(12th)(FD-$9,800)(DK-$9,900)(Y!-$40)

14 targets, 11 receptions, 108 yards, and two touchdowns. Ho-hum whistle while Kupp works. He’s the most expensive WR on the Main slate for a reason. What do want from me here? Fade at your own risk seems viable. Much like JT, this was a copy-and-paste job

Much like the running backs mentioned here in Bottom of the Barrel Week 3, I would like to focus on the cheapest of plays. Several receivers to love in the 6,000-dollar range. However, this early in the season there are some absolute gems to be plucked from the $5,000 range! Let’s dig in, shall we?

Curtis Samuel WSH vs. PHI(26th)(FD-$6,300)(DK-$5,100)(Y!-$18)

Now we’re talking! Therefore, the Commanders went out and got Curtis! As a Swiss Army knife-type kid paired with Terry and the rookie Dotson. Shoot, so far so good with Wentz too! Against the Lions last week Samuel had a carry for 21 yards. Lead the team in targets with 9 and he made good on them with 78 yards and a touchdown. Playing matchups is just DFS 101. Play this match-up! Call me crazy but I see this game going down like the Eagle’s week 1 game with Detroit! 28-27? 31-28? Fully stackable and don’t build a line without Curtis!

Jakobi Meyers NE vs. BAL(32nd)(FD-$6,200)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-15)

Jakobi’s target share is climbing, and I love it! Get this, last week Mac attempted 35 passes. He completed 21 of them. Meyers saw 13 targets and caught 9 of them. I am not a math whizz but almost half of Mac’s completions when to Jakobi! Looking ahead to a frazzled Ravens team Meyers could make us DFS slappy’s very happy in Week3!

Drake London ATL @ SEA(14th)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$5,800)(Y!-$17)

Drake has already shown us glimpses of his true power, aside from another stud performance from Seattle’s safety, Micheal Jackson, I think Drake finds the endzone! Tee hee!

Juju Smith-Schuster KC @ IND(13th)(FD-$6,100)(DK-$5,500)(Y!-$16)

So far, not what we were expecting from Juju. So now do the chants start? “Juju will never be a WR1!” showing up with pitchforks to Andy Reid‘s front door? Realistically, I do not care long-term, just this week, in Indianapolis against the Colts. I am thinking six targets, 4 or 5 receptions, and 50 yards is suitable on Sunday.

Garrett Wilson NYJ vs. CIN(8th)(FD-$6,100)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$15)

The come-up has happened! Last week the rookie showed us what he is made of and as long as these DFS formats stifle his price tags I am all in, you should be too!

Jahan Dotson WSH vs. PHI(26th)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$4,600)(Y!-$17)

Wentz has shown that dog side I forgot even existed! He’s been masterful at spreading the ball around to Curtis Samuel and rookie Jahan Dotson! Fun fact, Dotson led the team in routes run in week 2. What I love is the fact we have yet to see Dotson go super Saiyan in a game. Sunday will be that game!

DeVonta Smith PHI @ WSH(29th)(FD-$6,000)(DK-$5,200)(Y!-$17)

The Hurts to AJB connection have been marvelous! In a way, Smith has been the forgotten man. Which we should like as DFS players! Keeps his tag down, keeps him off the radar, and the match-up this week is beautiful! I have D-Smith at seven targets, 5 receptions, 65 yards, and a touchdown. Book it!

Tyler Boyd CIN @ NYJ(22nd)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$5,200)(Y!-$12)

Here’s hoping Joe Burrow and the Bengal’s offensive lineman get it together in time for this plum match-up against the Jets! We also know Burrow can support three WRs, that is a fact. In no way am I saying fade Chase and Tee but just swing back around with Boyd at discount.

Treylon Burks TEN vs. LV(21st)(FD-$5,900)(DK-$4,900)(Y-$12)

Treylon is tied with rookie Kyle Philips with 7 receptions. So, Tanny has had no issue spreading the ball around. On Monday night the Titans ran into a massive Buffalo Bills buzz saw. All good, live and learn type thing. The Raiders lack any high-end talent on the outside and that is where Burks thrives! Look for a long bomb-type touchdown on Sunday.

Robert Woods TEN vs. LV(21st)(FD-$5,700)(DK-$5,000)(Y!-$15)

As Treylon has the outside Woods will cover the inside. I love the idea of stacking both Titan WRs in Week 3.

Ashton Dulin IND vs. KC(26th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$3,900)(Y!-$11)

Ah screw it, let’s chase those points! What else do we have to do on Sunday, you know?

Joshua Palmer LAC vs. JAX(7th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$4,800)(Y!-$17)

While Keenan is out it looks as though Palmer will be the preferred second option after Williams. However, Austin will get his touches too but there’s no way Jacksonville holds firm again in back-to-back games. Five targets are likely here for Palmer and what he does with them could be special.

Isaiah McKenzie BUF @ MIA(23rd)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$3,900)(Y!-$14)

I want any piece of this Bills offense possible. I swear, if the guy who provides water to the players on the field was able to be had in DFS formats I’d mention him too.

Equanimeous St. Brown CHI vs. HOU(25th)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$3,900)(Y!-$10)

Is the jury still out on Fields and this Bears team? Regardless, seeing how this is a daily article I do not care. I think there is something brewing between Fields and St. Brown. Let’s see how it plays out, on our DFS rosters!

K.J. Osborn MIN vs. MIN(18th)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$4,900)(Y!-$11)

Over the years those secondary options have killed the Lions. Which, last I checked the pecking order in Minnesota, now, is Justin Jefferson, Cook, and Adam Thielen. Fair enough? That would make K.J. a secondary option! Two or three receptions for 87yds and a long touchdown incoming!

Tight Ends

Travis Kelce KC @ IND(28th)(FD-$7,800)(DK-$7,900)(Y!-$33)

Kelce is back into his old bag of tricks. Can’t teach an old dog new tricks. A bad egg.
A bed of roses. Bee in your bonnet A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. A blast from the past. A blot on the landscape. A bolt from the blue. a bull in a China shop. Not much left to say about Kelce or what he can do so I filled his blurb with old corny cliches.

Guess what? It is still cool to punt the tight end position! With the 2022 regular season kicking off there are some outstanding plays to be had with the tight end spot. Let me do the work and comb through depth charts for you. Here are my cheaper options at the tight-end spot in Week 3.

Kyle Pitts ATL @ SEA(17th)(FD-$5,600)(DK-$4,800)(Y!-$20)

In a case such as Kyle’s we all know he doesn’t belong in this article. He a stud. A superstar. Yet, through two games there have been issues in Atlanta. Now related to Bottom of the Barrel he should be on your radar this week. Look at his price tags across the board. WOWZA!

T.J. Hockenson DET @ MIN(22nd)(FD-$5,500)(DK-$4,200)(Y!-$16)

Last week TJ and Goff were not on the same page. It was clear as day. So much so that even the announcers and play-by-play guys were talking about it! I have heard through my local Detroit Lions grapevine that the two have stayed behind several times this week to work out the kinks. Talk it out. Play it out. So I, a Lions fan, am excited to see the combination thrive in Minnesota this Sunday!

Logan Thomas WSH vs. PHI(24th)(FD-$5,400)(DK-$3,500)(Y!-$15)

Logan, my man! We have missed you! Leave it to the Lions to jump-start an older TE’s game-time expectations. Again, Carson Wentz, right? Call me crazy but Wentz is seeing the field very well and he is peppering his offensive skill positions with balls. Why stop now? LT for another touchdown reception here in Week 3! Book it!

Dawson Knox BUF @ MIA(27th)(FD-$5,300)(DK-$4,100)(Y!-$16)

I want any piece of this Bills offense possible. I swear, if the guy who provides water to the players on the field was able to be had in DFS formats I’d mention him too. Copy and pasted jokes aside when Knox gets going watch out! At what point in the season do the Bills get bored and just start trying new packages and plays for their enjoyment?

Tyler Conklin NYJ vs. CIN(29th)(FD-$5,200)(DK-$4,100)(Y!-$13)

Ty Conk has been a favorite punt play at the tight end spot for a while then he screws it up, along with Kyle Rudolph, and jumps ship. Conkin had NINE targets last week against the Browns! With Flacco at the helm, we should be stacking up guys like Ty Conk, Carter, and even Moore. Get it done! Full NYJ stack in Week 3? Who is with me?

Irv Smith Jr. MIN vs. DET(23rd)(FD-$5,000)(DK-$3,100)(Y!-$10)

Flipping Irv Smith. I put him down in a tweet during Monday Night Football then like two plays later he catches a touchdown. What are we supposed to do with him? After all this time the answer is clear, DFS! Strictly a DFS format guy. However, I will say any yardage or catches to be made on Sunday for him will be hard to come by. Look for everything to be contested by this new look Lions secondary and linebacking core. Maybe, oddly, that has been Irv’s issue all along. Was everything handed to him? Maybe a good fight in the red zone will get this kid’s blood flowing!

Austin Hooper TEN vs. LV(26th)(FD-$4,900)(DK-$3,300)(Y!-$12)

Vegas stinks at covering tight ends. Hooper isn’t exactly the poster boy for stud tights, but I cannot shake this feeling of anger the Titans are going to play with after getting blown out on Monday Night Football. A lot of Henry carries, most of which Hooper will be in on, maybe they throw him a red zone bone?

Hunter Henry NE vs. BAL(25th)(FD-$4,800)(DK-$3,200)(Y!-$12)

I’m just going to keep writing about Henry until he scores. Then, I am going to screenshot this blurb with the caption, “told you so!” ignoring the first two weeks I was wrong. Isn’t that how social media works anyways?

That it is! Bottom of the Barrel for Week 2 of the NFL season!

Did I miss a guy? Did I miss your favorite team stack? Let me know!
