NFL Hall of Fame Game DraftKings Showdown Breakdown

Welcome to the breakdown for the NFL Hall of Fame Game DraftKings Showdown Breakdown! And most of all Welcome back to NFL Football! The game this year will feature the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Dallas Cowboys in our first preseason game of the season. The game currently sits with 33 o/u total and the Steelers are favored by 2. As you will notice most preseason games, especially the early ones will feature low totals as teams will either not play their starters at all or at most maybe a series or two. That is what we have for this game as currently Ben Roethlisberger, Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper have already been ruled out due to injury or just rest. We will need to monitor the news for the rest of the regulars for both teams but I would not expect them to play or only play at most a series.

So what does all that mean for DFS for this game? Well if this is your first time playing NFL Preseason DFS or playing for the first in well over two years since we did not have a preseason last year, the name of the game is playing time. We want to target guys who are going to be out there and playing the most snaps.

For this game, I am going to break down who is potentially in line for major playing time in this game for both teams. With preseason one of the biggest things, you will need to do is pay attention to news and inactives for each team as it can and will potentially change things. Be sure to stay tuned in Discord for alerts I will post.

Pittsburgh Steelers:

Dwayne Haskins: While Mason Rudolph is going to start this game, the Steelers already know what they have there. They will look to see what they have in Haskins who has said he is going to be more focused this time around. While that remains to be seen, I expect them to roll out Haskins a lot in this game. I will be heavily invested in Haskins.

Anthony McFarland: James Conner is gone, Benny Snell not practicing all week we could see Anthony McFarland pick up a lot of the carries for the Steelers in this game. Remember the Cowboys defense is terrible against the run. They didn’t do much to fix that this off-season. I would be shocked to see their rookie Najee Harris get a lot of work in this game as he is slated to be their starter in week 1. There is the potential Harris could play the 1st quarter but I am going to fade him.

Wide Receivers: As I have mentioned, I don’t expect to see any starters. I would expect Ju-Ju, Chase Claypool, Dionte Johnson to either not suit up or only play a series or two. So this will leave guys like Ray-Ray McCloud, Tyler Simmons, James Washington, Isiah McKoy to see the majority of the snaps in this game. My favorite plays here are Ray-Ray and Tyler Simmons. James Washington could see some additional action in the 1st half but again the Steelers know what they have here.

Tight Ends: Steelers look to be very limited at TE. Pat Freiermuth has not practiced all week which would leave the Steelers with three active tight ends potentially. Kevin Rader, Marcus Baugh, and Zach Gentry.

Defense: Exposure to be both defenses should be very heavy. I would not be shocked to see both defenses end up in the optimal lineup even the optimal CPT play on DK could end up being one of the defenses. At the very least I would have one defense in your lineups especially if you are playing cash on DK. The backups for both teams have not gotten a lot of reps in practice.

Dallas Cowboys:

Quarterbacks: Dak Prescott is out so we will need to see who is going to start here and who they give most of the playing time to. Ben DiNucci or Cooper Rush. Whoever will see the most playing time becomes a great play. The starter here could be the cash play and the backup would be the GPP pivot as people will go to play the starter.

Rico Dowdle: Rico is currently listed as the 3rd string running back. I don’t think Zeke plays and they already know what they have in Tony Pollard which would put Rico next in line for major playing time. After Rico JaQuan Hardy is listed as the 4th string back who could see some carries in the 2nd half.

Wide Receivers: We know Amari Cooper is already out as he is still on the PUP list. TJ Vasher is also out. Michael Gallup, CeeDee Lamb more than likely won’t play much if at all. This leaves Cedrick Wilson, Semi Fehoko, Osirus Mitchell, Noah Brown as the wideouts in play. I think Semi Fehoko has the highest upside of the group as the Cowboys are looking at him for the WR4 spot.

Tight Ends: Blake Jarwin is out. Dalton Schultz who is the backup TE could play through the first half and is live to catch a touchdown. Sean McKeon is listed as TE3 and could be in line for a large workload.
