The Team Rise or Fall and the Week 9 GPP picks for FanDuel are here to put you on the path to a great weekend. I’m going to give a couple of plays of each position while trying to build lineups that correlate very well. This means at a minimum we’ll want to have a quarterback and pass-catcher from the same team and at least one player from their opponent.
If you’re new to TROF, please make sure to check out our Sample Hubs. This will give you an idea of the wealth of information provided by us on a weekly basis, across all fantasy sports. Here’s our PGA Sample Study Hub to give you an idea of what’s available in our Study Hubs.
As always, I’ll be using trends from our Milly Maker Report series and stats from our NFL Study Hub as I try to fit the puzzle pieces together for life-changing money. Ok, let’s get to the plays!
Everybody gather close because I’m going to tell you a secret but it’s just for us: Russell Wilson is having a great season. Keep it between us though.
Seriously, if you’re MME’ing, Wilson should be a staple of your quarterback pool every week. Pair him up with Lockett and Metcalf (Or do some mixing and matching if you’re feeling adventuRuss) and grab someone from the other team and BOOM, you have a core.
The Broncos defense travels east to take on Matt Ryan and the Falcons. Our NFL Study Hub shows the Broncos are 21st against the quarterback position and we know Atlanta has the weapons to score well and spread the ball around. Julio Jones probably picks up a few more targets with Ridley out, and this is a week where including Todd Gurley in your stacks could work out well.
Henry and the Titans face off against the Chicago Bears who’ve allowed 21.4 fantasy points to Darrell Henderson + Malcolm Brown, 12.5 to Mike Davis, 18.5 to Ronald Jones, and 25 to Alvin Kamara over their last four games. If everyone is paying up and chasing Dalvin Cook’s amazing game from last week then it makes perfect sense to save $400 and roll with Henry.
When we stack we’re trying to soak up as much scoring as possible from a team. If you have Matt Ryan, Julio, and Gurley you’ve pretty much accounted for all of the Falcons scoring opportunities. The NFL Study Hub shows Gurley averaging 15.6 fantasy points per game over his last four games and 21 touches per game over the same span.
The NFL Study Hub shows Beasley has averaged 6.8 targets per game over his last four games and projects him for that exact amount on Sunday. So you’ve got Russ and two of his receivers and then run it back with Beasley (Can definitely run some back with Stefon Diggs) in a game with a 55 point implied total.
Jones is the highest projected wide receiver in our NFL Study Hub. He’s playing in a game with 50 point implied total. Calvin Ridley is out due to injury. I don’t know any other way to say than SMASH SPOT. (In before Julio 4-50 but for real… SMASH SPOT.)
Kelce comes in as the highest projected tight end, the highest-rated tight end, and ties for second-best value in the Team Rise or Fall NFL Study Hub. He’s averaged 16.3 fantasy points over his last four games and if you take out the Week 7 dud (4.6 points) he’s averaging around 20 fantasy points over a three-game span.
Not only does Fant work on the other side your Matt Ryan stacks but, our NFL Study Hub shows him facing the 32nd ranked defense against tight ends while receiving eight targets. If he drops 5-60-1 that’s a pretty solid game. The Broncos are projected to score 23 points and I see Fant being a part of that.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are starting Jake Luton at quarterback on Sunday. Luton might go on to be one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks but, I’m guessing (Hoping??) his first start against a desperate Houston team won’t be one for the record books. Jacksonville had the leagues 26th ranked offense with Gardner Minshew. I don’t see that improving with a backup.
The Ravens take on the Indianapolis Colts and their 21st ranked offense. Our NFL Study Hub shows both the Ravens and Colts averaging 11.71 fantasy points per game, tops in the league. The Ravens are positioned to be the more desperate team after a loss to Pittsburgh last week and having lost to Kansas City earlier in the season. We’re due for a bad Phillip Rivers game so, why not Sunday?
