NHL DFS Top Value Plays for Tuesday 01/17/23
Ryan Donato of the Seattle Kraken is in a solid spot as they take on the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers have been giving up a lot of goals this season, and they’re currently ranked 28th in the league in goals against per game. Donato is in a prime spot to take advantage of this weakness, as he’s skating on the second line and second power-play unit.
He’s projected to score 6.83 DraftKings points, which gives him a solid value of 2.73. This means he’s expected to return over 2.5 times his salary in value. Donato also has a high ceiling of 11.80 points and a decent floor of 1.86, making him a solid play in any format.
JJ Peterka of the Buffalo Sabres is another player with a favorable matchup. They’re taking on the Chicago Blackhawks, who have been struggling defensively this season and are currently ranked 24th in the league in goals against per game.
Peterka is in a great spot to take advantage of this, as he’s skating on the second line and second power-play unit. He’s projected to score 7.00 DraftKings points, which gives him a value of 2.69. He also has a high ceiling of 11.29 and a solid floor of 2.71.

Pierre Engvall of the Toronto Maple Leafs is in a solid spot as well as they take on the Florida Panthers. The Panthers have been giving up a decent amount of goals this season, and they’re currently ranked 20th in the league in goals against per game.
Engvall is in a prime spot to take advantage of this, as he’s skating on the third line and second power-play unit. He’s projected to score 7.16 DraftKings points, which gives him a value of 2.65. He also has a high ceiling of 12.01 and a floor of 2.31.
Finally, we have a couple of options from the Nashville Predators. Ryan Johansen and Cody Glass are both in a great spot as they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets have been struggling defensively this season and are currently ranked 29th in the league in goals against per game. Both Johansen and Glass are in a prime spot to take advantage of this, as they’re skating on the top line and power-play unit.
Johansen is projected to score 8.21 DraftKings points and has a value of 2.65, while Glass is projected to score 7.19 points and has a value of 2.57. Both players have a high ceiling, and they’re both in a solid spot against a struggling Columbus team.
It’s worth noting that these projections and value calculations are subject to change, and it’s always important to check the latest news and injury reports before finalizing your lineup.
