PGA DFS Picks and Projections for the Rocket Mortgage Classic on DraftKings and FanDuel
Our Nascar projections were on FIRE this past weekend as we had 3 members tie for 1st place in the big $12 GPP on Draftkings!!! Scrosby12 took down $20,000 in PGA the previous, and then another $12,000 in Nascar yesterday. Talk about a heater!!! Congrats fellas, let’s carry that success over to PGA this week shall we?

Here we are with yet another beautiful course and deep field of golfers. And once again, Rise or Fall is making part of our PGA content (aside from our Showdown Notes and Picks, as well as the Legends Tier exclusive sheets) free and available right here in this article. <— Projections link

Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club
Last week was crazy to say the least. That leaderboard was bouncing all over the place throughout the weekend. This week we head over to Detroit, Michigan for the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Where Nate Lashley will return to defend his title. This course is 7,334 yards, par 72 on bentgrass/poa mix – mostly poa designed by Donald Ross. The course is lined with tree and sees water come into play in about four holes, but nothing to worry about.
The course also has four par 5’s with one measuring over 600 yards. Hitting fairways is relatively easy and even if one misses the fairways wide, they won’t be penalized much because the rough is short. If you wanted to compare some courses to this I would compare Barbasol Championship or American Express. Now, we can usually go back on courses and have wonderful statistics on the course, but unfortunately this course has only been played twice (including this week) so you’ll notice a lack of stats. Anyway, Let’s get to it!
Important Stats:
- Strokes Gained Approach
- Birdie or Better %
- Par 4 Scoring 450-500 yards
- Strokes Gained Putting (poa)
- Strokes Gained Off The Tee
Early Cash Picks
- Bryson DeChambeau ($11700)
Yep, going back to Bryson again this week. And it’s difficult not to. Bryson’s recent form since the break has been perfect. Finishing 3rd at Colonial, 8th at RBC and 6th at Travelers. However, I don’t know if Bryson completely forgot he was at a tournament this last weekend because I felt like he was too busy trying to hit houses as he lost on approach nearly 2 strokes for round 3 and 4. Overall he finished the weekend with only half a stroke gained on approach. Last time he had this type of performance was at CIMB classic and still finished 13th. He definitely left a lot on the table at Travelers and although he only has 8 rounds played in Donald Ross courses he’s still ranked 1st OTT, 2nd on APP, 3rd in Eagles made and 5th in Par4: 450-500 in my model.
- Viktor Hovland ($10000)
Viktor looks great in all my models. Although Viktor has only 8 rounds under his belt in Donald Ross courses he’s ranked 1st overall. Since the break Hovland has been knocking for a top 5 finish with that amazing APP, T2G and OTT. In the last 3 tournaments alone he’s gained over 14 strokes on APP, 20 strokes on T2G and 6 strokes OTT. The only reason Hovland finished 11th at Travelers is because his putter went cold after the 1st round. If he can manage to get that putter hot again he should finish top 5 this coming week.
Early GPP Picks
- Hideki Matsuyama ($10200)
Deki failed us at RBC his first time back since the break and it rekt most of our lineups. But like I did last week with Sungjae I’ll be doing the same with Deki. He lost nearly 5 strokes TOT at RBC. The last time he played this bad was at The Players in 2018! So he’s someone else we can forgive this coming week. If we take a deeper dive his round 2 performance wasn’t too bad. He actually gained over a stroke on APP and a stroke T2G. On my Donald Ross model, Deki is ranked 8th overall. He’s 1st in T2G, Ball Striking and Proximity from 150-175 yards, 3rd in APP, 5th in BoB% and 16th OTT.
- Rory Sabbatini ($8800)
The man has been grinding since the break. He didn’t show up for Travelers, but since the break he finished 14th at Colonial and 21st at RBC. He also has course history here – finishing 3rd last year. Over the last 2 tournaments Rory gas gained over 4 strokes T2G, 2 strokes ARG, 2.5 strokes on APP and about a stroke OTT. On my Donald Ross model he’s ranked 3rd in 26 rounds. He lights up 2nd on both T2G and BoB%, 6th on Proximity from 150-175 yards and 7th OTT.
