As John Cena would say, “Your time is up, my time is now you can’t see me, my time is now!” At first thought, it sounded like a good idea to open Hot Puck but now, not so much. I am not saying your time is up. I am also not saying my time is now. However, I am saying it is time for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
I am an absolute sports maniac. I love it all! However, playoff hockey is by far and away from my favorite of all the four major sports. Every single second counts. Every shift, shot, goal, and power-play is meaningful. There are no wasted movements in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It is, both literally and figuratively, a grind.
Grow your playoff beards and let’s roll! Most nights will be cool and calm from a slate perspective. Tonight, day one is just that. There are four games on the schedule and Game one Round one is must-watch television. As teams try to establish dominance and assert themselves, I implore you to catch some National Hockey League action tonight.

These are the teams, stacks, and players I am into tonight from a DFS perspective! I am going to keep each blurb quick and to the point. The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is kind of like professional wrestling. We know is going to win but the fun is watching the how!
EDMONTON OILERS L1 vs. Los Angeles Kings 10p EST
Connor McDavid L1 & PP1(FD-$9,900)(DK-$8,900)
Evander Kane L1 & PP1(FD-$6,800)(DK-$6,000)
Jesse Puljujarvi L1 & PP1(FD-$4,500)(DK-$3,400)
No time to be coy. This is the Stanley Cup Playoffs! Sure, here and there we can stack up an odd line in a GPP in hopes to gain some leverage but day one, game one is the time to stack up the heavyweights!
The Oilers have won seven of their last ten games to go with 49 total wins this season. Edmonton has also only lost 12 games at home all season. Going to be tough sledding for the Kings in this first round.
Edmonton is 13-3 in their last 16 games vs. Western Conference, opponents. Los Angeles is 1-6 in their last 7 games in Edmonton. The home team is 20-8 in the last 28 meetings between these two. Lastly, the favorite is 28-9 in the last 37 meetings.
Numbers do not lie. Stack up the Oilers tonight as they win by a final score of 6-2!
MINNESOTA WILD L1 vs. St. Louis Blues 7:30p EST
Ryan Hartman L1 & PP1(FD-$6,700)(DK-$5,700)
Kirill Kaprizov L1 & PP1(FD-$9,700)(DK-$8,000)
Mats Zuccarello L1 & PP1(FD-$7,400)(DK-$4,600)
Do me a favor and watch game one of this series and I am willing to bet you will watch the entire flipping thing. These two teams despise each other and the last time they played it was rough! Perfect for playoff hockey!
The Wild finished the year at 53-22-7 overall and an astounding 31-8-2 at home! On offense Minnesota is scoring, on average, 3.80 goals a game on 33 total team shots. While St. Louis is allowing opposing teams to score around 2.80 goals a game on 32 total shot attempts.
Of the four games tonight, I am making it a point to watch this one. Talk about establishing power, nastiest, and grit! The Wild against the Blues is tops on my list! Minnesota is 7-1 straight up their last 8 games! While the total has gone over in 6 of Minnesota’s last 9 games.
This hockey contest has a massive full game stack written all over it. However, the Wild prevail and win by a final score of 5-4!

ST. LOUIS BLUES L1 at Minnesota Wild 7:30p EST
Ryan Thomas L1 & PP1(FD-$5,800)(DK-$4,500)
Pavel Buchnevich L1 & PP1(FD-$6,400)(DK-$5,000)
Vladimir Tarasenko L1 & PP1(FD-$7,900)(DK-$6,400)
On the flip side of the Minnesota Wild, we have the St. Louis Blues! These Blues have a nasty streak in them as well just a few years removed from winning the Stanley Cup. That experience alone is priceless! Plus, who else are we going to stack from these Blues! It is their first line, also known as, their old second line!
St. Louis is 49-22-11 overall in addition to 23-12-6 on the road! On offense, the Blues are scoring, on average, 3.70 goals a game on 31 total team shots. On defense, Minnesota is allowing around 3.10 goals a game on 32 total shot attempts.
I am honestly expecting a seven-game series between these two teams, and I will cover it every step of the way! The total has gone over in 4 of St. Louis’ last 5 games. While the Blues are 12-3 straight up their last 15 games. We are in for a treat!
While I have the Blues losing tonight, they win hang and score. Thus, racking up points in our DFS lines!
