Happy Monday! Just like that, we are into August! The dog days of summer are upon us! So, let’s not waste time on some long-drawn-out opening. Let’s talk about MLB DFS!

Today’s overall baseball schedule gives us 10 total all-day games! FanDuel’s Main slate is 9 games, and the first pitch is at 7:05p. DraftKings Main is also 9 games and locks at 7:05p. Yahoo! main is also 9 games and locks at 7:05p. Let’s dig into some of my favorite plays for August 1st, shall we?
NYM at WSH 7:05p 1B Pete Alonso(FD-$4,100)(DK-$6,300)(Y!-$23)
In Pete’s last 10 games, Alonso’s wailed out four doubles and two home runs to go along with six runs and nine RBI. Tonight, the Nationals are sending Patrick Corbin to the mound. Enough said, right? Get this, Pay owns a 6.49 ERA, allows a 44.5% hard-hit rate, and not shocking enough about 15.5% of his flyballs are bombs. Per the Rise or Fall Study Hub Pete’s rating, tonight is a robust 84.22. Oh, one more thing! On DraftKings, his projected ownership is only at 1.4%. I mean come on now! The Polar Bear is about to make a lot of money for you tonight!
NYM at WSH 7:05p OF Mark Canha(FD-$3,800)(DK-$5,700)(Y!-$17)
Canha went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored Sunday in a 9-3 win over the Marlins. Look, Canha has never been that flashy in-your-face stud power hitter but, to me, is perfectly built for a DFS format. Ride the hot streaks and fade the cold stretches. Right now, Mark commands our attention! Canha also stole a base last night and if that is going to continue then boy oh boy will he be valuable this month! Pat Corbin throws his sinker down and away 36.9% of the time and more times than not that seems to be a lot of right-handed hitters’ sweet spot. Bomb incoming from Mark tonight. Canha’s rating on the ROF Study Hub is a beautiful 69.43 to go along with 4.8% ownership on DK and a measly 1% on Fanduel.
NYM at WSH 7:05p Starling Marte(FD-$3,500)(DK-$2,500)(Y!-$25)
Marte had the night off yesterday after playing in nine straight games and posting a 1.005 OPS. We know what Starling is about. Power and speed! Marte in the two-hole tonight is in a nice place as he swings at the first pitch 62.4% of the time. Why does that matter? Well, as a right-handed batter we are back in the same place as we were with Canha above. Pat Corbin leans on his sinker(36.9%), down and away, and by the off chance, Marte misses that first pitch his whiff rate is slightly above average at 25.5%. This means, Starling will stay in the box and battle Corbin and all my chips are in on Starling to win! At only 2.5% ownership on DK, it’s basically too good to be true.
SD vs. COL 9:40 1B Luke Voit(FD-$3,200)(DK-$3,600)(Y!-$14)
At this moment in time, Voit is up to 13 bombs, 47 RBI, 38 runs scored, 18 doubles, and a stolen base through 79 games. He has been off and on the IL several times this year but as of right now he is healthy and seeing the ball well. Colorado pitcher Antonio Sentzatela is a gas can, and he throws his 4-seam fastball 55.1% of the time directly down the pipe. Also known as a meatball, Luke is going to hammer one, maybe, two tonight! Per the Rise or Fall Study Hub Luke’s ownership percentages are ridiculous given the match-up against Colorado tonight. Only 1.9% on DraftKings and 2.3% on Fanduel.
