Hello and happy Friday! The weekend is upon us and I can see no better way than to start it all off with baseball! Don’t forget to check out my favorite stack of the day video!
Today’s overall baseball schedule gives us 13 total all-day games! FanDuel’s Main slate is at 13 games, and the first pitch is at 7:05p. DraftKings Main is 13 games and locks at 7:05p. While Yahoo! main is also 13 games and locks at 7:05p. Let’s dig into some of my favorite plays for August 5th, shall we?
NYM vs. ATL 7:10p 1B Pete Alonso(FD-$4,200)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$18)
Yes, Pete Alonso again has made the list! Alonso just continues to mash the ball as evident in his 14.2%-barrel rate coupled with a hard-hit rate of 47.6%. Atlanta pitcher Ian Anderson is no slouch, and he does induce a 56.9% first-pitch swing rate. However, Pete is swinging at the first pitch of each at-bat around 58.5% of the time. So, if something is going to happen it’s going to down quickly! As we check into the Rise or Fall Study Hub Alonso has a stellar 68.54 rating tonight with a low ownership percentage of 3.1 on Fanduel and 2.9% on DraftKings. No brainer to roster Alonso this evening!
NYY at STL 8:15p 1B Anthony Rizzo(FD-$4,000)(DK-$4,700)(Y!-$19)
Dakota Hudson, believe it or not, has a five-pitch arsenal. Although he favors his sinker as he throws it 55.9% of the time. In most cases, his location is down and in. Throughout Rizzo’s career, we have all seen his violent swing and how he uses his hands to create these massive launch angles. As of right now, Rizzo’s exit velocity is at 90.1 MPH. No doubt a tad slower but that comes with age. So does wisdom and I am cramming him in all lines possible even as a one-off if need be! Anthony checks in on the Study Hub with a beautiful rating of 71.02 and a sub-2.5% ownership in both formats.
COL at ARZ 9:40p 2B/SS Jose Iglesias(FD-$2,700)(DK-$3,800)(Y!-$16)
My favorite stack of the day is, in fact, this entire game. The Rockies and/or the Diamondbacks. What I find most appealing is the lowly ownership percentage in this game across the board. As of late Jose has been seeing the ball very well! Collecting 15 total hits over the last 8 games. His price tag and lack of ownership make him the perfect sneaky move in a game where I expect 10+ runs.
PHI vs. WSH 7:05p Kyle Schwarber(FD-$3,500)(DK-$5,400)(Y!-$16)
Washington is sending young RHP Josiah Gray to the mound tonight and he gives up around 2.15 home runs a game. That’s all well and good seeing how this Philly batting order is just packed with power. By the looks of it, lead-off man Kyle Schwarber is no secret tonight. Per the ROF Study Hub, he’s projected at 23.5% ownership, and it doesn’t any better on DK at 16.4%. Chalk is chalk and there is always a place and time for it. Tonight is that time. Bet responsibly but if you own a farm bet it up against a Schwarb bomb!

This bonus is a good one and it is all based on stacking up against Detroit RHP Bryan Garcia. His pitching metrics stink. Hard hit rate, xBA, and xSLG are all poor. Granted the Detroit Tigers bullpen is excellent but if these two Tampa Bay guys can get rolling the first few times through the order then the value will be achieved!
TB at DET 7:10p 1B/3B Yandy Diaz(FD-$2,900)(DK-$4,100)(Y!-$21)
Yandy has been hotter than fish grease. However, his last three games have been pedestrian. Well not entirely seeing how yesterday he took two walks and scored twice. Diaz is just a statistical box score magnet right now. Given the fact, that the Rays head to Detroit for a few bets on Yandy not only scoring out well tonight but throughout the weekend.
TB at DET 7:10p 2B Brandon Lowe(FD-$3,000)(DK-$4,600)(Y!-$12)
Again, Lowe is no secret tonight as he sits with a gorgeous rating of 79.39 but with the good comes the bad. The bad is his ownership percentage. On Fanduel we’re looking at over 20% and on DK just shy of 18%.
