Top DraftKings PGA DFS Plays for the Wyndham Championship 2022
The PGA Tour has one final stop in North Carolina before the Fedex Cup Playoffs begin next week. The DFS experts at Team Rise or Fall are hitting our stride and peppering the DFS leaderboards with golden microphones. I have zero doubt that the drum beat will persist this week at the Wyndham Championship.
This was the tournament with my largest ROI last season. Three of my top plays ended up in the six-way sudden-death playoff, including champion Kevin Kisner. The Wyndham is held at prestigious Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC. The course plays to a par-70 that only barely stretches over 7,100 yards.
The switch to Bermudagrass greens and fairways this week will introduce a few new faces back into the fold whom we haven’t talked about since the Florida Swing. If there was ever a course to hone in on approach statistics, it would be this one. Key metrics weighted into building my Fantasy Cruncher player pool are Strokes Gained on Approach, Proximity on Approaches between 100-125 yards, and par-4 scoring. Since this is the last week of the regular season, I will give a small bump to players on the bubble of qualifying for the St. Jude next week.

As always, leverage is the most important factor in taking down these big DFS tournaments on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo!. You might have most of the right pieces to the optimal puzzle, but roster construction and contest selection will ultimately decide how successful you are at profiting. With the alluring scent of fresh tobacco and barbecue in the air, let’s tee off.
Stick It Close: Studs to Target
Shane Lowry (DK: $10,600; FD: $11,800; Y!: $46)
The Irishman major winner has kept a low profile lately, but is no less lethal when a course demands hitting greens. Lowry has three top-5 finishes this season without a win, including a heartbreaking loss at the Honda to Sepp Straka. He is world-class from tee to green and Bermuda is the surface on which he has his best putting success. Lowry sits at 28th in the FedEx Cup rankings, so a strong showing this week would assist him in a late push to take home the grand prize in three weeks.
Russell Henley (DK: $9,800; FD: $10,900; Y!: $39)
Where Lowry was the golfer with my second-highest rating this week, Henley was far-and-away the top guy. We will likely need to eat some chalk to roster the man whose epic collapse at the Wyndham last year left him one stroke shy of the crowded playoff. Henley was dominating the tournament until the bitter end, so I’ll be riding the “unfinished business” narrative along with the favorable metrics.
Aaron Wise (DK: $8,100; FD: $10,000; $40)
The former Oregon Duck is having a whale of a 2022 season. It is only a matter of time before the close calls become triumphant trophy hoists. Wise has finished in the top-35 at all three majors he played this season (not in Masters field). He is the 7th-ranked player in my player pool modeling and projected under 10% rostership. One concern might be his putting numbers on Bermuda, but his proximity on approach this season has been wonderful.
Other Studs in My Pool: Corey Conners, Harold Varner, Sungjae Im, Webb Simpson, Davis Riley, Billy Horschel, Joohyung Kim, Tyrrell Hatton, Denny McCarthy, Will Zalatoris, Kevin Kisner, Taylor Pendrith.
No Gimme: Tap-In Values
Mark Hubbard (DK: $7,900; FD: $9,200; Y!: $25)
“Homeless Hubbs” is quite the character. I have grown fond of him this season, nevermore than his nonchalant ace last week in Detroit. He sports just as many top-10 performances as missed cuts this season (5) and is 5th-best in this field at putting on Bermuda surfaces. At only a 6.7% rostership projection, Hubbard could very well push the top of this leaderboard as the 5th-highest ranked golfer in my pool.
Scott Stallings (DK: $7,800; FD: $10,100; Y!: $28)
I tried to exclude Stallings. I don’t usually enjoy playing him in DFS. I ran the model every which way and Scott Stallings persisted at the very top of this field. Hopefully the rostership projection updates to a bit lower than the 11% it is showing today, because he is the 11th-best golfer in my field. Stallings isn’t an exciting pick, but he’s on a very nice streak of strong form recently.
Adam Svensson (DK: $7,500; FD: $9,400; Y!: $27)
The Canadian contingency on the PGA Tour is much stronger than most realize. With Corey Conners, Adam Hadwin, Taylor Pendrith, and Svensson popping up on leaderboards all season (among others), there are edges to be had when one of them is priced very reasonably. Svensson’s missed cut at the 3M Open was sandwiched between five top-25 finishes since June. He is my 8th-best play this week and is projected around 9% rostership at the Wyndham.
Other Values in My Pool: Austin Smotherman, Scott Gutschewski, Brendan Todd, Adam Long, Callum Tarren, Jhonattan Vegas, Harris English, Chris Gotterup, KH Lee, Stephan Jaeger, Peter Malnati
I will be with you for an entire PGA Tour season of DFS picks. I hope you join me in victory throughout 2022 and beyond. I promise to be a better DFS golfer than an actual golfer. You can find all of my musings on Twitter. Good luck and hit ’em straight!
