Welcome to the Team Rise or Fall Top NFL DFS Value Picks for DraftKings article. It is here that we’ll look to identify potential spots that will allow you to pay down for plays that are expected to exceed their NFL DFS salaries and put you in a great spot to land on the right side of the cash line.
It was an exciting first week of action and some of last week’s plays were decent and some not so much. I know you’re not here to dwell on last week so let’s move forward and get into this week’s NFL DFS DraftKings values.
No sophomore slump to start the season for Justin Herbert. The second-year quarterback played relatively well considering how stout the Washington Football Team’s defense was expected to be going into this season. Herbert threw the ball 47 times in week one! I don’t know if that is going to be sustainable all season long as the Chargers proved to us a willingness to let Herbert sit back and let it rip. This week he’ll face off against a terrible Cowboys defense that gave up a last-minute touchdown to Tom Brady on opening night. I fully expect this game to be a shootout and should be extremely popular to game-stack. Herbert is the best value at the quarterback position according to the Team Rise or Fall NFL Study Hub.
Mayfield played well against the defending AFC Champion Chiefs, but not well enough. Baker threw for over 300 yards but failed to toss a touchdown pass in this high-scoring affair which saw the Browns score 29 points and still lose. The one silver lining was that Mayfield was an efficient 21 of 28 without Odell Beckham Jr who was listed as an inactive before the game. This week he’ll face off against the Houston Texans who put up a surprising fight in their week one win over the Jaguars. The Texans did allow rookie Trevor Lawrence to throw for over 330 yards and three touchdowns. I’m not saying Mayfield will do that, but it should be a good spot for him to have a good game and exceed his NFL DFS salary on FanDuel.
Carson is the main man in Seattle and whenever we can lock in a workhorse back at a value, I’m all for it. On Sunday against the Colts, Carson accounted for 16 of 22 running back carries. He also was targeted three times out of the backfield and caught all three targets for 26 yards. He’s considered the second-best running back value on the slate according to the Team Rise or Fall NFL Study Hub.
I’m a huge Najee fan. He’s a Bay Area kid – always got to root for local kids who make it to the league. Most importantly for DFS purposes, Harris was responsible for every running back carry for the Steelers. Chase Claypool had a carry but everything else was all Harris. He was also targeted three times out of the backfield. You’re telling me that at $6,100 I’m getting every carry as well as a handful of targets out of the backfield going against an opponent that gave up nearly 200 yards rushing. I’m locking in Najee this week.
This was a tough one for me. I fully understand that there’s no way we can consider Devante Adams a value, right? Hear me out, Adams is the highest projected, rated, and value wideout according to the NFL Study Hub. He’ll be facing off against a Lions team that allowed 41 points to the 49ers. I absolutely love this as a bounce-back spot for Adams and the Packers in general. Adams was targeted 7 times last Sunday which was a few targets less than he was seeing last season. I expect him to see 10+ this weekend.
Didn’t it look like Joe Burrow and JaMarr Chase had some pretty good rapport? The two LSU teammates who didn’t look in sync in training camp or the preseason looked good when it counted. Chase was targeted a team-high 7 times. I understand that this number will fluctuate from week to week but it’s apparent that these former teammates have something special together and as long as the Bengal’s offensive line can keep Burrow upright he’ll be able to keep the team in games.
The Ravens lost a stunner to the Raiders on Monday night, and things will only get tougher as they face off against the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Andrews is the best value at tight end not named Kelce or Kittle according to the NFL Study Hub. Assuming this game will be a shootout (it has a Vegas implied total of 58 points) Lamar and the Ravens will have to throw the ball to stay competitive. Andrews was targeted 5 times on Monday night, let’s see if this is a number that can be improved on.
The Pats lost a heartbreaker to their division rival Miami Dolphins. While driving to kick the game-winning field goal running back Damien Harris fumbled away a chance to win the game while on the Miami 11 yard line – tough break. However, Jonnu is who we want to focus on. Smith was targeted 5 times and caught all 5 targets for 42 yards. It seemed like he was the preferred option over TE2 Hunter Henry. I’d like to see that again this weekend and have Jonnu build that consistent rapport with Mac Jones.
I know there are some blemishes on each of the players on the list, but remember – you get what you pay for!
