Under New Management

With the Bears offense now under Luke Getsy, there’s said to be more of a run-game than there was under Matt Nagy. That could be good news for this being the year of Cole Kmet. He’s being run through many different playbook scenarios to see how he holds up. 

“You talk about a guy that we hope can do a lot of different things. We’ve lined him up wide. We’ve let him do some routes outside. We’ve brought him in tight. We’ve put him in line and making him block the big boys up front too and I think the cool part about him is that he can do all of that stuff really well.”, said Getsy in a recent interview with NBC.

 

In the last 2 seasons, Kmet has only caught 88 receptions for just 855 yards and 2 touchdowns. He wasn’t in a position to score a touchdown at all last year. It’s easy to see why so many Fantasy Football players are nervous to get on the Cole Train. *choo choo*

“Cole’s a big dude.”

“Cole’s a big dude.”, notes Safety, Eddie Jackson, who has had the opportunity to cover him. 
 
There’s certainly an opening for a big dude with Jimmy Graham no longer on the team. This paves the way for Cole Kmet to step in and make this his year. It’s time for him to put to use what he learned from Graham, who had a unique skillset of his own. 
 
From what I’m reading, the coaches have given Cole Kmet the space he needs to try out new plays and techniques, matching him up against different Corners or Linebackers. It’s stories like this coming out of camp that are fueling the fire for 2022 to be the year of Cole Kmet. I’m here for it.
