PGA DFS: John Deere Classic Lineup Strategy

What’s up, golf nerds! Thanks for joining me again this week for a quick study on some core PGA DFS: John Deere Classic lineups! I was out sick last week, so I wasn’t able to publish a video or an article, but I did share my entire lineup on Twitter. Be sure to follow me @KellyInPhoenix .

This week’s tournament takes place at TPC Deere Run in the Quad Cities area of Silvis, Illinois. The field is… interesting. There aren’t many huge names taking part this week. I foresee a lot of bettors going with “their guy” because it really is anyone’s game. Favorites to win appear to be Adam Hadwin, Web Simpson, and Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

Here are some of the top picks to consider for your PGA DFS John Deere Classic lineup:

Top Tier $8K – $11K

Adam Hadwin $10.3K DK $11.7 FD

Hadwin is pricey this week on both of our favorite platforms. You might want to take the risk on the price for him or Webb Simpson, considering the rest of the field I’m going to share with you isn’t that pricey. While he’s not a bomber, Hadwin does manage to have a pretty accurate drive and hits a good number of Greens In Regulation (68%). Last week, he finished 7th, so he’s sure to want to perform well again this week, after being so close. He’s made the cut in his last 3 events.

Cam Davis $8.4 DK $10.4 FD

Cam Davis is a pretty decent value this week. While his driving accuracy (55%) isn’t great and his GIR is nothing to write home about… His approach stats are fantastic going into this week and so is his scrambling ability in and out of the sand. I do think there are better players, at better prices in the field though. I wanted to highlight him, because you may see him rise to the top as you work in the study hub.

Mid Tier $7K – $9K

Ryan Armour $7.1K – $8.8K

I’ve never had Ryan Armour in a lineup. Maybe this is the week to pop him into my PGA DFS John Deere Classic lineup strategy? Everything looks great on paper. He’s made the cut 6 out of 10 of his last events and he’s placed 35th or better. Three putt avoidance? Check. Accuracy off the tee? Check (75%). GIR? Check (68%). Approach stats? Chef’s kiss. Scrambling saves? He’s got it. I would find it hard not to play this guy this week. I’m in.

Kevin Streelman $7.9 DK $9.9 FD

You’re going to see Kevin Streelman pop up as you’re working in the study hub. He’s a pretty good value for this particular field. He’s checking most of the boxes – strokes gained, driving accuracy, GIR… I’m just a bit off-put by his inability to make cuts. That being said, he came in 25th in his last outing.

Value Tier $6K – $7K

Honestly… You shouldn’t need to dip below $7K for a value pick. You’re likely going to still have money left in your salary cap this week and that’s OK! Here are a couple of “value picks” that I like for some of my PGA DFS John Deere Classic lineups.

Austin Smotherman $7K DK $8.3 FD

Smotherman has only had 2 big misses out of his last 10 events. That’s pretty impressive for a value player. He’s ramped up his stats into the green in Strokes Gained and Approach. Off the tee, his Driving Accuracy is at 63%, hitting GIR 67% of the time. I like him. 🙂

Hayden Buckley $6.9 DK $8.5 FD

Buckley has made the cut in his last 2 events. His accuracy off the tee + his GIR are really good at 68%.

Other Players on My Radar:

All of them! Haha… just kidding. Kind of. This week, build a bunch of different lineups. The skill level of this field is pretty even. There’s no big star or standout. They’re all just pro golfers out there playing to win!
