MLB Top Stacks Main (Quick Overview)

Another 6 game slate to tackle on this beautiful Labor Day Monday. I hope you all are enjoying your cook-outs’ and family time this afternoon and hopefully you’re doing well on your early lineups from this morning. The Astros are currently the #1 ranked stack for the evening slate, which starts at 6:40pm. Pay attention to lineups when they are released as we may see some funky lineups on this Holiday afternoon schedule

Angels vs Tigers LHP Tyler Alexander

The Angels have long been out of the division race this year, as they enter today’s game 28 games out of 1st place in AL West behind the Astros. That being said, I believe they have a very good matchup today vs Tigers left hander Tyler Anderson

This season, Anderson has a 5.55 xfip and he has managed just a 12.8% strikeout rate. Against left handed hitters he’s been decent, allowing a 284 woba 122 iso and a 17.7% strikeout rate. Against right handed hitters however, he’s been really bad and this is where we can target him today. This season he has allowed a 337 woba 198 iso 41% fly ball rate and 35% hard contact rate while only striking out 11% of the right handed batters he has faced

Mike Trout (obviously) is the top right handed Angels bat we should target here. Arguably the best hitter in the game today, Trout has mashed left handed pitching this season to the tune of a 614 xwoba 253 iso and 42% hard contact rate.

Luis Rengifo is a switch hitter, who will bat right handed vs the left handed Tyler Anderson. This season Rengifo has a 391 xwoba 237 iso and 39% hard contact rate against left handed pitching.

Shohei Ohtani bats left handed but, the left vs left matchup doesn’t really worry me here. This season Ohtani has a 388 xwoba 195 iso and 42% hard contact rate against left handed pitching

White Sox vs Mariners LHP Marco Gonzales

The White Sox are only 2 games out of 1st in the AL Central behind the Twins and Indians Errr, I mean Guardians🙄. This matchup is a good one vs Mariners left handed pitcher Marco Gonzales. So far this season Gonzales has a 5.39 xfip and has only managed a 12.6% strikeout rate. Against right handed hitters, he has allowed a 330 woba 170 iso 35% fly ball rate 36% hard contact rate and just a 12% strikeout rate. He’s allowed more power to hitters from the left side this year, allowing a 341 woba 202 iso and 34% hard contact rate

The White Sox are full of right handed hitters that do serious damage against left handed pitching. On the short list of Top Play on the Slate tonight for me is right handed hitter AJ Pollock. This season Pollock has a 788 xwoba 358 iso and 42% hard contact rate against left handed pitching

Luis Robert has crushed lefties all year also with a 415 woba 169 iso and 40% hard contact rate.

Jose Abreu is not having a monster year list we’ve seen him have in the past. He only has 14 HR and 63 RBI this year, but, he’s still batting 310 on the year with 73 runs scored. Against left handed pitching this season he has a 412 xwoba 196 iso and a 44% hard contact rate. Despite him not having a great offensive year, I still believe he’s in a good spot here today vs Marco Gonzales

More White Sox I’ll target today:

Yasmani Grandal 414 woba 36% hard contact rate
Andrew Vaughn 575 xwoba 41% hard contact rate
Elvis Andrus 331 woba 168 iso 36% hard contact rate

Padres vs Diamondbacks RHP Ryne Nelson

D’Backs right handers Ryne Nelson will make his major league debut today vs the Padres. He was a 2nd round draft pick back in 2019. He has a 5.43 era in 136 innings in Triple-A this season, with a 21.6% strikeout rate and a 7.6% walk rate. He’s also allowed 25 home runs in those 136 innings so he should be someone we can target here with Padres bats

Juan Soto has crushed right handed pitching this year, and pretty much his entire career. Dating back to the start of the 2021 season he has a 457 xwoba 245 iso and 45% hard contact rate against right handed pitching.

Manny Machado, has similarly great numbers vs right handers. Dating back to the start of the 2021 season he has a 430 xwoba 232 iso and 49% hard contact rate

Josh Bell 436 xwoba 186 iso 43% hard contact and
Jake Cronenworth – 369 xwoba 179 iso 36% hard contact, round out the Padres bats I’ll be targeting in this matchup today.

Rankings Today

These rankings are not site-specific and are intended to give you a solid pool of players to build your lineups from. I’ll be using the standard positions, Catcher through Outfield in these rankings so be aware of that if you’re constructing teams on Draftkings where some players can play multiple positions

Something I like to do with this, is to give these players a THUMBS UP or 2, or 3, in Fantasy Cruncher so I can get more exposure to them throughout my lineups
